Big call I know but this place is the place to be when you want Malay food and want to stay in the north side of town. The Lanka and steamed chicken combination is so popular that it regularly sells out. A fantastic little family run eatery. Cash only though, so don't get caught out!

Feel like a genuine hawker style lunch or dinner, then Malaymas is the place to go. Still going strong after 24 years is a testament to consistent tasty authentic flavours. Malaysian restaurants don't usually trade for too many years under the same owner except for this place. They are famous for their Hainanese chicken rice, (good idea to reserve this... More

We had a great night at Malaymas with fabulous food. The service was great and very attentive - we didn't have to ask for water once, they always supplied more before we even noticed we'd run out. The meals were generous and super tasty and the place was brimming with guests and good atmosphere.

food is always top notch and authentic. Malaymas fried rice is my staple, but will generally try and drag others along so we can order more dishes. Laksa has plenty of punch unlike some other Malaysian restaurants, and the ice kachang always goes down well :-). But be aware it is cash only.

"Swap Pork for Eggplant" is not English literature. One working in a restaurant should be able to at least understand this much English. The waiter must be in his 40's.. not sure if he was the owner :/ Service was a bit disappointing but the food was great.

In this neighbourhood, this would be the best place to get a good malaysian fix. You can also call ahead to do pick ups, since the place gets packed quickly. Good value for money.

On a business day trip to Melbourne - first flight in, last flight out - and we were craving for Malaysian. Malaymas came recommended, so after concluding our business, we headed straight to Malaymas for dinner. No nonsense Malaysian. Shop had a kopi tiam feel, I felt at home. Ordered the Hainanese Chicken Rice and Char Kway Teow. Gave them... More

We have been going here for years and know the owners as well as the food. A small family owned and run restaurant with at least 15 years track record. They cook everything from scratch and it is shows in the reliably delicious food and large Malaysian contingent! This is one of the cheapest meals in Melbourne. The rendang curry,... More
