I am from India and love cooking myself. I have visited many Indian restaurants in Melbourne but can't stop raving about Chilli Padi! Their Chicken and Goat Dum Biriyani is made by the authentic process and you can just smell the spices and taste the essence while you eat it. The best one I have had in Melbourne! The other... This is a great place for a quick but satisfying lunch. The vegi dishes change constantly but are all fantastic, especially the aloo and daal. The thali with roti and rice is so satisfying and the service is quick and friendly. I love this place. It gets my vote for best curry in the CBD.

I loved their food I tried their Thali, I love chilly in my food and loved the different validation of spices and chilly in every item, if you haven't tried Nepalese place, thus place will give you an experience closer to authentic Nepalese.

This review is given for the Chilli Everest part of Chilli Padi in Melbourne Central. First time trying out this place with friends. After comparing Chilli Everest's and Chilli India's menu and I have decided to go with Chilli Everest because the menu looks more special and the queue is short for a lunch time peak hour. Ordered and had... More

Experienced terrible service! Went to order and told the two dishes I wanted were not available - fine, ordered something else. It was takeaway, so I stood around waiting for the meal. After half an hour asked where my order was and was told it would be out soon. 5 minutes later they came and told me that one of... More

Chilli Padi (Or Chilli India as it is called) has some good dishes with the right amount of spices as the Indians would love it. My personal favourites are Chicken Dum biryani and Podi chicken. This place is mostly fully packed during the dinner time. So reach there around 7.30-7.45 to avoid any disappointment. Njoy the food.. Cheers

No doubt food was good, but service OMG!! Such a s*** service ever saw. Wait for half an hour for meal(masala dossa), which can be tolerable , but asked for extra sahmbhar in middle of my meal. After 10 minutes of waiting, have to get up and ask for it again and again on the counter , then after five... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
