What a rubbish experience, average over priced food , slow service . The chef wouldn’t swap fettucine to spaghetti for one of the kids , poor form . No kids menu , I guess they don’t need because the portions are so small , $30...plus for a bowl of spaghetti for an 8yr old . The carbonara wasn’t carbonara , the tomato sauce was average . $37 for a bowl of pasta , that was no better than food court food . Overated, over priced rubbish .More

One of the best Italian restaurants in Melbourne CBD. Best choice of food and the flavour was exotic. No fancy dishes but authentic Italian with home made sauces & freshly prepared Pasta. However it would have been good if there were Chicken & vegetarian options...as couple of us in the group were vegetarians (no fish and no meat). Overall a great place to dine and it’s one of the hidden gems of Melbourne.More

Great food, appalling complaint management. My companion and I enjoyed our meals and were happy to pay $150+ for the experience. However, when we ordered the tiramisu (our favourite dessert when out) we were surprised to see that the dish came deconstructed. And when we...poured the hot coffee over the main dish - as instructed - the creamy part of the dessert curdled. Further, the top of the dish remained hard, really very unpleasant. We sent it back with the accommodating and apologetic waitress. When the $16 price for the dessert was added to our bill, we queried it. The manager was called. He raised his voice at us, insisting that he had sold hundreds of these dishes and we were the only people to complain, therefore, the dish must be perfect and we must be in error. He argued that the crunchy texture we both experienced must have been chocolate chips (it wasn't). His manner was quite aggressive and he thrust the eftpos machine under my chin for payment. When my companion said that she would have to make a bad review for his poor handling of the situation, he began shouting that she was threatening him ! It has been sometime and I still feel deeply uncomfortable. Such a shame, because the food was great and I would have returned, but for that grossly inappropriate behaviour.More

From the minute you step through the door you are hit by the sights and delicious aroma of the place. The wait staff were full of enthusiasm, friendly and helpful. I was captivated by the chef tossing the pasta in full view yet unobtrusively to...the side. A delicious meal with Tiramisu to die for.More

Had a beautiful Saturday lunch, great food, excellent service and wonderful staff. Best authentic Italian restaurant in Melbourne. Highly recommend Da Guido La pasta. The tiramisu is a must.

First they took away our side plates. Next they didn't deliver the bread they promised. And we had to ask for some oil to go with the bread - and get those side plates back. And one had a chip. Even knowing that we had...a deadline, they didn't come back in time for a sweet order. Yes, they were busy. Yes, the pasta was tasty. But a little more attention to their customers would help.More

This was our favourite Melbourne restaurant. The three pastas were magnificent with an excellent wine list to match. The atmosphere was great in Lygon street with tables out on the street. They were very busy (re staffing) but I suspect staff shortages are the issue...at this time.More

If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated
over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the
place. Until recently, this neighbourhood was home to
the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who
started their day with a local espresso. They are
gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this
Little Italy which has something for everyone.
