Totally worth coming. 12 per plate, perfect Japanese food, crunchy salmon skin! Perfect for one, although the local is pretty small and seems like a place to eat fast, nevertheless there is a nice sitting area outside.

Loved the freshness of the food and the fact that after the meal you don't feel as though you have overdone it. Great selection, really great if you are a vegetarian (or not). We went three nights in a row we loved it so much.

The cafe is centrally located. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as allowing patrons to take their food to the bar beside. Their donburi-style selection of dishes give you plenty of options for a quick, warm meal on a budget.

This little eatery is reminiscent of so many tiny spots in Osaka or Tokyo to grab a bowl of rice or noodles w/ veggies and a protein. Nicely prepared meal, inexpensively well done. Renkon is great value and a quick feed. Btw - Renkon is Japanese for lotus root.

What a great little place. Food was good and the staff were nice as well. Crowded which is a good sign. But the place next door which is a bar allows you to eat there as well so there is extra seating. Highly recommended for those on a budget.

Small centrally located cafe with a casual, friendly vibe. Modest decor with a little bit of indoor / outdoor seating Quick service. Mostly donburi style bowl dishes with either pork, chicken or tofu, with rice or noodle option. They also do soup versions of most dishes. Cheap at around NZ $12.50 per dish. Choose & pay first at counter. If... More

This place is a good example to prove size doesn't matter. It is as small as a living room and yet the food produced is lovely. Certainly great value for money.

This is a tiny restaurant with a simple menu featuring mostly donburi style choices. The meals are tasty and at a price point that's as competitive as you'll see in the area. The establishment is tiny with not much seating inside. There is outdoor seating although this is exposed to the elements and so may not suit everyone in all... More

It is very central just a few meters from Queensstreet. The staff was incredible friendly and helped me by deciding my meal cause it was the first time for me that I ate Japanese food. But it was really great! And a normal meal is only about 12$ which is really cheap here in Auckland.

My wife took me here after I picked her up from work, down a small side street, it doesn't look much from the outside however, the food is amazing. Lots of it and very tasty with complementary green tea or water. Freshly cooked and well presented , definitely worth another visit and another after that
