Good food. The portions have shrunk since our last visit but good taste and there was enough. The service was good till the end. We were never offered dessert or coffee. The restaurant was full by this stage and the service staff were busy but...I do like to end my meals out with coffee and dessert.More
Good over all . last time . Lovely friendly service by our first waitress, but the two men waiters later on were not friendly at all. The meals look to have shrunk since we were there last. The meals tasted nice, the mains, the starters...and deserts, but I think like many restaurants in Aotearoa, they have had to cut back on portion size and ingredients to make any money, and keep afloat. My adult son ordered the steak and it was one piece of steak, two small potatoes and only two pieces of broccoli, that was all. My pasta dish had abt 5 pieces of chicken and abt 6 very thin slices of mushroom in it. I was disappointed by the meal sizes, but by the time we had finished everything I was full. The Tiramisu - again not a large portion - and cheesecake tasted delicious. I think maybe this is the norm now for dining out here - re meal size and restaurants struggling to get great staff.More
Wonderful meal and experience at Hamilton Portofino. Would highly recommend. The gurnard and veal mains were excellent as was the canneloni and steak dinner.
Good menu and a very warm welcome. Got sauvignon blanc instead of chardonnay but that was quickly rectified with apologies. The bruschetta was ok but not classic as described on the menu. Not on bread but a pizza base, chopped tomato, no basil but rocket...and grated cheese. Odd. We chose the gnocchi with bolognese sauce, and the prawns in a cream sauce, to follow. The gnocchi was good but the bolognese wasn’t balanced properly with far too much tomato paste. The prawns were charred extremely well and delicious, but the sauce and overcooked rice were easily left on the plate. Our three dishes had rocket leaves as a garnish which seemed unimaginative and lazy. I’d rate it a bit above average, the wait for food was a bit long, and everything just seemed to miss the mark.More
So, Portofino appears to have no socials that I can send comments to, so I can't contact you there. This means I end up writing a review here, in public. I ordered Uber Eats from you. Dessert was cheesecake. Gelatin has no place in a...cheesecake recipe. Cheesecake shouldn't wobble as you tuck into it. Gross!More
We come here quite often as the portofino rigatoni is our favorite! But this time, our pasta come out within 5 minutes of ordering (which is definitely too quick to be making pasta) and it was terrible. It had no flavour, no sauce, and the...pasta was very overcooked. It was like the pasta had been sitting in the kitchen for a couple of hours, and the sauce just had absolutely no flavour. I asked for a pinot noir which tasted like it had been open for too long. We are very disappointed as we are normally regulars, but this might have been enough to put us off. I did tell the staff when we paid, but they didn't seem to really believe me. Hope it was just a one-off!More
Good food, good drinks and excellent service. Seated outside really enjoyed. Had fettuccini and rib eye as our mains.
This restaurant was lovely, nice ambiance, clean and well served. The food was delicious from the Insalata to the pasta and veal scalopini. Unfortunately your map site does not work, after trying several times to push on Hamilton it does not reveal any menu or...location spot.More
When the combination of food, ambience, staff attention etc goes well, it is easy to give a good rating. But, it is also how a restaurant handles something that goes wrong can also give you a indication. Our mains were going to be presented before...or starters and a lovely young Serbian waiter took charge and her charm, organisation and suggestions were spot on and crisis averted. Similarly, we had ordered a bottle of Barolo and even though I had overquickly approved it, the wine was not a good Barolo. Thin, no colour and tasteless. The manager on duty totally accepted the criticism of the wine and brought out a different one, which was excellent. I think his supplier is going to get a earful! Such a good experience we went back the next night where everything was perfect. Great food, great service.More

We were handed a menu & asked what drinks we wanted. We then waited.......and waited ........and waited some more as the staff chatted together for some considerable time and ignored us. We gave up and left as nobody brought us our drinks or took our...order despite the place being completely empty.More
If you like microwaved food then this is the place for you. I had the cannellioni, and despite it not being fresh it was alright.. And the olives were nice, but arn't all olives from a jar nice, I just wished they had marinated the...olives themselves.. Ugh I wish I had taken a photo!More
Generally enjoyable. However, 2 matters need attention: 1) The menu states that all credit cards are accepted. The front desk won't take Amex. 2) Our waiter was not up to speed on what "gluten free" means: he seemed to think that a little gluten was...OK.More
absolutely love the fettuccine and the Toblerone cocktail. 100/10! absolutely stunning atmosphere and such friendly staff. favourite place in Hamilton for pasta dishes definitely.
