We visited on a whim, after reading the reviews. We called in for lunch after visiting Mt Egmont national park headquarters. The Dutch based menu, especially the Dutch pancakes were amazing. The coffee was outstanding. Very high recommendation, especially with school aged kids. Excellent parent relaxing location.

Wonderful meal options and excellent service. The location is amazing inside and out (weather dependent of course). Service is wonderful, genuine and welcoming. Looking forward to my next visit!

We had a great time indulging yummy food while staying in their B&B for a couple of nights. One of the best places in New Zealand to relax and enjoy. It was a complete package for us – nice accommodation, breath-taking scenery, delicious food and awesome hosts – what else you need! Joep is a great chef and managed to... More

On Waitangi Day we celebrated my Dad's 90th birthday at Volcanoview, with over 90 guests. They very kindly opened up the Cafe for us on a day they would normally be closed, and charged no extra for a Public Holiday. I have nothing but praise for the very friendly staff, the wonderful food and the great surroundings. Joep and his... More

Dutch style food with a magnificent view. My children always have fun here on the home made pedal cars. Plenty of gluten free options on the menu.

A very nice family cafe/restaurant. Nice variety of food, where my favourites are the pancakes. Bacon, apple, even spicy pancakes are available. Really good for families, as the children will be happy to spend plenty of time on the little cars and the playground. For larger "kids" there are some exciting flying foxes available (to be used at your own... More

What a great find - for excellent coffee on the way to Mt Taranaki and then for a late lunch after working up an appetite !! The chicken Cordon Bleu was simple but extremely good, and my partner had the cajun Salmon which was equally good. The service was faultless. If you have children then this would also be a... More

Hi Noel, Thank you for your review. It is good to realize that not only the unhappy campers of this world write reviews. As I always try to convey, we are aiming at providing a good time to everyone and that is not always easy. But we keep on doing our best. Hope to see you again. Best regards Joep More

Well I tell everyone about this place because you are guaranteed fresh, beautifully cooked meals. Annemoon and Joop are very nice people and the atmosphere is just gorgeous with a beautiful view (on a sunny day) of Mount Egmont. This is our "go-to" place in Taranaki and we never have to guess if the food will be good or not... More

Hi, Thanks so much for the nice review. Always good to read that people do enjoy it here. We will have the new menu up and running as per next week. More emphasis on Dutch pancakes, and healthy other food. Glass house is packed with salad, cucumber and tomatoes, so we are ready for a busy season. Cheers Joep More

Great view, lovely owners, great good for a reasonable price and the thing what I should recommend others is the scotch Fillet with mushroom sauce. This place is perfect for children and for families. Especially the flying foxe are a must do

Volcanoview was the first choice for a birthday meal over the weekend. The meals were excellent - the poached salmon was superbly cooked and there was plenty of it. The mixed grill went down very well too. We also had garlic bread, made with Volcanoview's own bread. The children chose pan fried fish and chips with salad and they were... More

Volcanoview Restaurant established 26 January 2011. Friendly priced family restaurant with table service. No need to order at the bar, we come to you. Our food is healthy. Most of the dishes are gluten free, we grow our own lettuce, vegetables, capsicums, bake our own cakes, buns, bread, make our own beef/fish/veggie burger patties and all our sauces except mayonnaise and BBQ sauce. So we know that what we serve is good healthy food. Further we cater for weddings, parties, work do's, functions, funerals, you name it. Average cost for a full fledge dinner buffet is $ 37,50 per head. The funny - if you can call it funny - thing is that we are ranked 111 out of 120 restaurants in New Plymouth by the guys who manage this international web site, whilst the average review over all these years results in a rating of 4,5 stars. Well, no worry, this is the place to be for young and old. Everyone can use the free pedal carts.Three flying foxes are all located on a private property. The use of the flying foxes is at your own risk, because Volcanoview, the management and our staff cannot be held responsible for any accidents. If you stick to the rules, nothing is likely to happen. Apart from the restaurant we offer camp ground, cabin and B&B facilities. All reasonable priced and the awesome views of Mt Egmont are totally free of charge. Hope to see you soon. Kind regards, Joep & Anemoon & Kathy
