Not sure that this deserves the title of best cafe/ restaurant in welly but it's certainly the most frequented by tourists due to its proximity to weta. I came here with my husband and baby we ordered coffees and lunch. Slightly more expensive that the average cafe, it was warm roomy and had enough space for a pram (although no... More

The food in the larder is some of the best in Wellington. The cheese soufflé was incredible. Attentive and knowledgable waiting staff. We'll definitely be back.

Absolutely perfect. The amuse boucher to start was sublime. The octopus was divine and the pork belly was the thing dreams are are made from. Wine list is generous and satisfying. We'll definitely be back again.

I love it when a menu is so well constructed that you want everything. Five of us dined together. In this season, typically started with two dozen bluff oysters - 6 battered and cooked something I avoid with Gollumesque cries - except the Larder got it right. The batter was light not oily but with a pleasing crisp/crunch. The oyster... More

Stopped in at The Larder after Weta Tours. It's 100 meters away so you can definitely walk it. Came in on Mothers Day and the place was packed for lunch with a 30min wait. However, we opted to just sit by the bar table and was served immediately. I would say the best restaurant service we had in NZ, considering... More

We stopped here for a last lunch after doing the Weta Studio tours, just seeing the tables and chairs outside on the corner down from Weta and taking a chance. Not disappointed at all! Very elegant and quiet inside, plenty of room around the tables, quite a few people there. The food ordered - pea soup with prawns and twice... More

A few years after our last visit the Larder seems more popular than ever. The food, both to the eye and on the palate was superb. The wine selection doesn't draw as heavily on 'local producers' as does the food and the only New Zealand wine (by the glass) that I thought might match my main course was ho-hum. As... More

The Larder serves creative combinations of high quality tasty food. It includes offal in some dishes (hooray). It is a crowded small restaurant which tended to be noisy. Excellent wine list and waiting staff.

Wow, what an amazing "brunch" - Anzac weekend - Croque Madame - I've had the same in France where it originates (I think) and this was far better than there. Flavours out of this world, the chef deserves all the accolades possible, waitresses were attentive and happy and the barista gave a perfect coffee. We took pastries home for desert... More
