We wound up here last night for dinner. The restaurant itself is nothing special at all, but the food was lovely. Super fresh tasting. I had the avocado vegetarian fresh spring rolls and the tofu and vegetable bowl with rice noodles. Having been to Vietnam last year I was transported back to the little side of the road places we... I come here once or twice a week. Great tasting fresh food, very authentic, and the owners are lovely. I started frequenting this place after my previous favourite Vietnamese place in Wellington had started to go downhill (Fishermans Plate on Bond street). I didn't realise at first, but as it turned out the real reason Fishermans Plate started going downhill... More

After craving some pho we decided to walk down to the arcade to try this.. I ordered a chicken pho dish and you can tell first off that the broth had not been cooked for a very long period, the broth had a bland taste, lack of chicken and overall was not authentic (real shame as this place is run... I must have been here 10 times now, always get a rare beef pho, sometimes the prawns on sugar cane, its always tasty. I went here after reading a rave review in the local paper (Dom Post) and i can only agree with everything he said. Sure, i never try anything else but i know what i like and thats... More

The meals were very plain and lacked authentic quality ingredients. One person at our table ordered the chicken fried rice. It was VERY light on the chicken, had absolutely NO flavour at all, and had a few peas and cubed carrots thrown in it that were obviously from a frozen bag of mixed vege. The meal was definitely not worth... More

Phong Vu is tucked away down left bank but that hasn't stopped it from becoming increasingly busy. We've been several times since they opened the doors and each time has been great. As with most cheap Asian BYOs the service is just ok but the food more than makes up for this. Fresh spring rolls are made to order, both... More

Came here just before my holiday to Vietnam to get a taste of what it's like. Ordered Pho bo and it was great. Tasted just like the pho I got in Vietnam. It was cheap and tasty. The summer rolls were refreshing. Not much of an ambience but I would come here again for some good, cheap Vietnamese food.

We had a two night stay in Wellington and on the first night wanted to eat somewhere cheap and cheerful Not being very familiar with the Wellington restaurant scene, we decided to brave the weather and take a walk around. We wandered through the Cuba Mall and just beyond that in Left Bank stumbled upon Phong Vu. It certainly fit... More
