I was hungry and most places near my hotel were closed by 5.00pm so The Royal Alehouse was a good and convenient choice. Very average decor and I didn't sample the beers. But the fish and chips I ordered were above average and I apprecated the salad that came on the plate. A ig serving. The bar stuff (with whom... More

We drank beer, cider and ate pizza. All good. Nothing special but clearly popular with locals after work. The $10 pizza hit the spot.

Love the beers - always a pleasure to drop in for a pint. Food is typical pub grub, nothing too flash but good value for the price you pay. Sign up for their rewards scheme and you get some free beers somewhere down the line.

Traditional bar, the IPA is OK if you are into that type of beer. Friday afternoon attracts the street with crowd.

Stopped in after Beervana at the stadium to have a munch as we were both starving. I carried on with the beers but the other half wanted a wine so we ordered and went upstairs. The place is dimly lit most of the time but the old wooden fixtures and the blazing fire made it feel very cosy and warm.... More

It was busy at lunch time as I guess it is a new place so people are trying it. It was weird to order your food at the bar as only got told by another customer. The food came out fast and it was good. I enjoyed my fish and chips as it was a lot. My parents enjoyed their... More

One of the pubs I visit on regular basis. Very good selection of craft beer on tap. Sometimes have lunch specials and steak deals that are really good value. craft beers come in jugs, environment was good and appropriate for a pub. Strongly recommended!

A great find if you want something substantial and a bar atmosphere. The pulled pork burger was large, filling and delectable. The fish and chips were requested without salad, so additional chips were added to the plate. Both meals were hot and well presented. There was a great selection of beers on tap and in bottles. The bar has a... More

I don't really expect too much during Christmas lunch season, but the Royal was underwhelming. We weren't too enthused by the Xmas set menu, but the a la carter choices were nothing flash. I had a vegetarian quesadilla, which was about as interesting as a cheese toasted sandwich. The beer choices are good. Staff were a bot confused.
