We were in New Brighton to walk the pier. We really didn’t want to eat at the cafe on the pier and so went for a walk around and about. So glad we did because we discovered Switch. Even a number of years after the...quakes, a walk around the New Brighton township quickly makes makes you realise that the local business owners have been doing it tough. Covid clearly has not helped either. We were so glad to find Switch, a local cafe full of atmosphere, which is obviously a go-to for the locals. It was busy but the wait was not too long. The food and coffee were great and the service was also good. I would recommend a circuit of town to anyone in New Brighton looking for a good coffee and brunch. Finding this cafe is certainly worth it.More

Went here at what seemed like a bad timing situation with a big que in front of us however food came really quickly so impressed by that. Although I didn't go coffee nerd on them at the time there were options for single origin coffees...and take away coffees with different dose and brew times if you want to get into it more.More

Been going there for awhile now, and the staff are always on point. Menu is incredible also. Highly recommended

Had a takeaway coffee yesterday afternoon from Switch. Double shot flat white and sorry to say but it was the worst coffee we have ever had. No coffee taste more like hot milk and water. We both love our coffees and our one was very...disappointing and we also waited about 15 minutes when they were not busy. Cafe had a lovely vibe though.More

Myself and a colleague went to Switch New Brighton , Christchurch, We wanted to have coffee and grab a bite to eat , After I ordered the coffee in take away cups , the extremely rude girl serving me said “ Are you drinking them...here I said yes and no will sit to eat the food , but go , Sge said and I quote “ If you are sitting in yiu cant get your coffee in a takeaway cup “ if you want to leave bring it up and we will put what us left in a takeaway cup for you. This is the most stupidest thing I have ever heard. I said we prefer the take away cups , she refused, hence we left , We went and spent over $30 at the Karma cafe mor it less next door, And the food was delicious, I just can’t believe that we could not get what we ordered from Switch , The service from this women was terrible . Clearly she wasn’t the owner. To let $30 just walk out the doorMore

Very happy to find this place as the options in the area a few . Pleased to say these guys were excellent . Good food friendly fast service and nice feel . Will defiantly make this a regular stop when on the east side

This place is a little gem in the middle of a declining New Brighton. The food and service good . Owner seems to be very organised . Worth a visit

This is our good old local. Great cabinet food. Vegetarian and vegan options. Quick service. Great for families, toys and books for kids. The staff are used to having them around and are very accommodating.

Love this quirky wee place in New Brighton. Great friendly team who work there. Food to die for and darn good coffee. Enjoyed the chilled ambience too. Definite must visit.

This casual, retro cafe has become somewhat of an institution in Brighton with its friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and funky seating. A combination of menu and cabinet provides a good variety of tasty and innovative food which is all made on site (except for the...bread). Switch has some great coffee which is their own roast and we enjoyed some good lattes on our visit for morning coffee. The savoury scone we chose to have with our coffee was one of the best we have had recently. The friendly staff and good service made for a memorable visit.More
