We've loved Pier 24. It's been our go to place in Dunedin and we've spent a lot of money there. Booked in for Saturday night and were warned it was a set menu for Graduation. Should have been a clue. The food arrived so fast we couldn't keep up, even though we asked them to slow it down. Made no... More

I usually stick to the other end of the Esplanade for my coffee but i thought I'd try Pier 24 today. What a mistake. The coffee is burnt and bitter and the savoury scones are lousy. If you like eating spring onions, then they're probably for you, as that's all i could taste. The rest of the scone was completely... More

Decided to eat in-house tonight and booked a table at Pier 24. Not a large menu but something for most tastes. Shared an entree and ordered the market fish and the chicken dishes. Finished with the cheese and port. All dishes were tasty, well prepared and presented. A wide ranging drinks menu allowed matching with the meals. Staff were unobtrusively... More

I had high hopes of this restaurant, having read a recent very positive review in Cuisine magazine. In fact, we specifically chose to stay at this hotel so we could eat there. The view was lovely, and we were given a table by the window. Service was odd - the waitress simply hadn't been trained, and got flustered when we... More

It's a lovely place for a quiet breakfast. There were only us and another couple in for breakfast so we had excellent service. The food was very good and we had a lovely relaxed breakfast. They also do wonderful vegetable scones which we bought to eat on the train later.

Had the fist experience of tasteless Bacon and Egg. Staff here are a bit laid back, and service suffers. Nice views over the sea are about the only positive thing I could say.

Location is perfect and the service is also good, unfortunately we had the comparison to 2 years ago. Compared to the past the quality of the food was clearly not close to what it has been. Still not bad, however not the prime choice for dinner

Have never been here before, it was nice enough. I've heard portions can be small but I had the tuna paella and it was massive and I couldn't finish it all! View of the ocean was nice and we had dessert as well. All up it came to just over $100 for two mains, fries, two drinks and two desserts.... More

We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and wanted a special meal to acknowledge the occasion, we were disappointed. The service was average at best. We had difficulty understanding our waitress who spoke so fast and didn't offer any explanation of the menu or specials. Service was very slow and people at a neighbouring table were seated after us and... More

Offering everything from sunrise breakfasts to casual coffee to superb lunches and evening dinning. Modern day cuisine inspired by our regional pantry. Bookings are recommended to avoid disappointment. It's easy to see why Pier 24 has the best views and location in Dunedin. On a summer day the doors can be fully opened turning the restaurant into a coastal alfresco dinning experience. In the winter months sit warm and cosy behind double glazed windows watching winter storms batter the coast.
