One of the revelations from a recent holiday in Tasmania was how good the food is in Launceston. The Brisbane Street Bistro is a real gem. Located in a lovely old terrace close to the CBD, it features comfortable seating, well-spaced tables and a stylish period decor. Service is very good and the food and wine excellent, with a focus... I dined recently at Brisbane Street Bistro as part of a group of 10. Upon arrival we were greeted by our waitress and conducted past the front dining rooms to our own private dining room. Our waitress was lovely; focused and prompt but at no stage did I feel rushed. She possessed a great wine knowledge, able to suggest perfect... More

Went expecting to find a typical bistro, nothing about this place is bistro. It is a wonderful dining experience. The food was excellent, the wait staff very attentive and professional. We had a wonderful meal here and look forward to our next visit. The tomato tart was so amazingly delicious!!! I'd love to be able to cook like that.

Food is always amazing here everytime I have been. The venison is the best I've tried and very tasty. The tassie wines available are a must to accompany your food. The service is always impeccable here and you always feel that you are a very important customer. We had the private dining room this time and it was a private... More

The food was great, lovely service and a great atmosphere in an old terrrace building in the middle of Launceston. Local produce and wines top it off.

The environment is excellent as was the service but, for an establishment which advertises contemporary French food, it was disappointing. The amuse bouche was timely and enjoyable. Entrees were reasonably good. Mains not good enough - confit duck not crisp although the accompanying duck sausage was very good; the trevalla on potato mash was pleasant but the fish overcooked. Desserts... More

Nice atmosphere, set in an old terrace with tasterful decor and smooth music. Food was what you'd expect in a fine dining restaraunt. We had: Entee: Chicken liver parfait - very good, creamy and tasty parfait served with good compliment of bread and quince/pear pickle; quail - very good, nicely cooked with light gamey flavour; octopus - very good, served... Apparently went there the day before Peter H! Also had the Vietnamese Oysters - excellent combination of tastes and textures. Also had the Fillet with Oxtail and Tongue - terrine excellent and croquet very good. Fillet tender and cooked to my specifications. My wife had the Venison which was also excellent. Both desserts were also top class. The Domaine A,... More
