I ordered crayfish but it's under my estimated. It's not fresh. No matter the waitress are helpful and serve quickly. If you haven't time you can sit and see the ocean view with seafood dishes. But i don't choose if i have more time

This roadside cafe served up freshly cooked seafood from the grill. We had the whitebait fritter and grilled fish sandwich. Served on fresh bread although others had rice and salad. Definitely worth a stop if you are driving to Point Kean

The crayfish tail was very meaty and fresh, and it was honestly the highlight of that meal. The prawns were a bit undercooked which was quite gross. Whitebait patty a bit watery. We spent $105 on what's pictured. Okay to try if you are in...More

Thank you for your feedback. We do agree that crayfish is, indeed, an expensive item. Disappointing for many people because it is caught here in Kaikoura. However, the purchase price is controlled by the export market which is sky high! We work very hard buying...More

We are Kiwi tourists who came for the crayfish. We chose one from a chilly bin and it was cooked to perfection for us. The staff were friendly and chatty. It was a great place to stop and very busy but the service was great....More

This place was so disappointing. We saved it for last as we'd heard such good things but I wish we hadn't bothered. The prawns were over cooked and nothing was seasoned, the seafood chowder was watery and tasted like it came from a can and...More

Thank you for your feedback. I shall try respond to your comments: The seafood chowder is homemade everyday. it is certainly not “out of a can”. The food is purposely not salted because seasoning is provided on the tables and people tend to complain if...More

This place came highly recommended by our hotel owners. It is also closer to the Kaikoura Trek. Finished our trek and this shop by the road was closing down. We ordered the Cray fish and Mussels - local delicacy and it was very good. The...More

First off, we found a flyer on our car to call in, so we did. The staff were really grumpy and seemed to feel as if the fact that they were busy was an excuse for being annoyed! They even closed for half an hour...More

Thankyou for your input. You are right, by responding to the pamphlet on the car you arrived and certainly didn’t deserve a negative reception. Our staff were a little overwhelmed that day, but as you pointed out - that is a management issue and the...More

Yes a great location and should serve fresh tasty seafood... The whitebait fritter was average. The scallops were served raw and were inedible.... Basic salad. Cannot recommend

Recommended by Lonely Planet. Freshly cooks seafood to order on BBQ outdoors. Very good and cheaper than the local restaurants. Everything served in a sandwich or with rice and salad. Open daily weather permitting from 11am
