You cant go wrong with a visit to Donegal House, with Marcel and Crazy Jane the service is always entertaining. Good food, amazing views, and again Dog Friendly.

Donegal House is a great place to eat and chill, away from the tourist throngs of Kaikoura's main street. We took family from the North Island there for lunch when we had a day trip to Kaikoura and they were delighted with the place. It was a lovely sunny day, and we were the only people there! We sat outside... More

Expected the local concert to be here but we had the wrong location. Stopped for a beer anyway and for a nice sit in the sun.

Came here for the afternoon with our English friends to have a sit outside and a beer/wine. Was a lovely day and we chatted together by the pond listening to the frogs and watching ducks and admiring the garden. We were so comfortable that we decided to stay for dinner. Service was good and food was excellent. I chose the... More

Given its location we were not surprised that not too many other people were there when we arrived for an early dinner at about 6.00pm. Firstly you need to know that this place even exists and then you have to find it. Even then it's not clear what you have arrived at. Is it a restaurant, is it a hotel,... More

I guess it is as quaint as it looks. Very authentic local pub as you would expect from the Irish. A warming welcome with some delicious irish food. Ideal

The bartender ridiculed me for being vegetarian, suggesting I should eat grass (twice) and that normally vegetarians could expect "grief" when asked how what other vegetarians normally ate there. Another friend was called a "sucker" when tricked into going into a woodshed to find a toilet by a staff member. Yet another friend and other diners were told the staff... More

Great chips to accompany a very large and tasty seafood basket. We were there on a very quiet, winter evening but enjoyed the roaring fire and the refreshing beer. Food was fresh, well cooked and filling. Great body fuel before spending the night in a yurt.

Went on a road trip to the seals, and after we were travelling back and decided to call into Donegal House to see the menu for lunch or dinner, door was open and spent about twenty minutes looking around and we called into the bar for a drink twice, called out nothing But the door was open and opening hours,...
