we had a wonderful light lunch on the front lawn, the surroundings are very comfortable "old English" with lovely gardens and mature trees, the staff were very helpful and accommodating, the food was devine and the drinks just exceptional, well worth considering for a quiet meal away from the usual rush and noise

Quaint little cafe with old fashioned China like your grandma used to have nice food a little expensive but good to visit for something a little different.

We had afternoon tea here and unlike most places, they make it to order on the day and catered for my lactose intolerance. It was excellent and the setting is beautiful. If you like old world charm and good food, this is a gem of a place to visit. Book in advance for high tea.

Went here for a work lunch as a long serving employee was retiring. Lovely setting and surrounds. Can sit inside or out on the wrap around deck. Had the crispy thai style chicken salad which was very tasty. Nice place for lunch with the girls, the family or for a high tea breakfast for a special occassion. Service was a... More

Fabulously restored house and great place for tea and cakes sitting out on the verandah. Huge cakes were delicious and staff were lovely.

Returning to Melrose House for a second end of year lunch with friends was a mistake. We all thought the menu was very limited in comparison with our previous experience but having made our choices we were then told that they'd sold out of the chicken dish, with no prior indication that this was the case. The mushrooms on toast... More

We went to look at the house, which is partly open to the public. Seeing people sitting on the cafe veranda looking out onto roses and a pretty lawn, we decided to try it ourselves. It was wonderful! Cheerful, friendly service in the most elegant surroundings. We each had lemonade, and the passion fruit won the vote. Boiled orange cake... More
