We arrived in Nelson around noon time and decided to try this quaint looking restaurant. We were in the shoulder season, so we were happy to find a restaurant that was open on a Sunday. We were delighted to find the service excellent, the views of the bay with the small sail boats weaving in and out of the waves,... More

I dined at Harbour Light during a wet and cold lunchtime, and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The views (I was seated upstairs) are wonderful - overlooking the bay and nearby islands, and the wait staff friendly and attentive. The menu was varied and interesting, and my gnocchi delightful. It could almost be seen to be a special occasion restaurant... More

My wife and I dined here two years ago and, although rating it a 5, the wine list was limited and expensive. Can't say that any more. Much improved. We chose the lamb rump and it was truly superb. Followed with key lime pie, which we often talk about because it was so good last time. Again, excellent. Add great... More

We visited Harbour Light with a group and were lucky to sit on the first floor where you have an excellent view over the Tasman sea ! We choose different dishes ... from a fresh Caesar salad, a delicious Fish soup and even a super vegetarian first course to beautiful main courses : Fish of the day, lamb and beef... More

We liked everything about this restaurant: the beautiful location overlooking the sea, the friendly staff and the delicious food. We had a lamb and a fish dish, both very attractively presented and cooked to perfection. The wine we chose was excellent. Then, we had the best lime pie ever for dessert. I am not a specialist in lime pies but... More

We had a sunset dinner at Harbour Light Bistro and found the food and service in the range of excellent. The seafood was excellent and the lamb was delicious. The large selection of beer and wine served us well and gave us a lot to choose from. The views from the second floor dining room were spectacular. We recommend you... More

Make sure you are sitting on the upper floor if you care for the view. The waitress was informative and friendly. The food we ordered were all great from pork belly entree, steak, and the ossobuco. We enjoyed every bite of our meal.

The food was perfection. We had the brie entree, fish main and key lime pie dessert... It truly was perfection on a plate.

This is a restaurant run by a chef with excellent culinary training (years with Bertold Siber) and it shows. This is the best restaurant in Nelson - the atmosphere is relaxed yet the service and ambience are great. The view and most importantly the food is excellent. I wish I had something like this back in Melbourne!
