I love the Colonial... Just to wind down after work with my favourite drink. their Fillet Steak & lamb Racks are my favourite. It is family run & John, Jeff (he is the romantic one that lights your candles) and family do an awesome job. Great view with the ocean and you can even see them feed the kookaburras.

Good atmosphere and ambience. Very humble small restaurant not pretentious and served personally only by the owners, which can be a disadvatage when its busy. Tried the miso eggplant for the entree, taste delish.its a winner. Then i ordered lamb rack for my mains. My lamb was cooked to perfection. But i do find the sides (rice and a stir... More

I stayed in this place as the hostel i was originally meant to stay (nomads) was filthy and just not recommended to sleep in. This place is pretty good, nice view of the harbour and big clean rooms. Only negative is breakfast, REALLY basic (tea/coffee/cereal) and if you want to upgrade you need to pay $11 for eggs/bacon etc. staff... More

Great meal. Two of us had the Laksa (delicious) and the others had the Butter Curry lamb pot pie, also very good. Excellent service. Very nice surroundings and welcoming atmosphere. One of Airlie's secrets.

Had a lovely dinner here with my wife. She is a vegetarian so we don't expect much. The Eggplant is a revelation! I had the local gourmet sausages with mash which was very good. they also have many other delicious sounding dishes. Well worth a look.

We had dinner here at night. View was lovely since the restaurant and motel sit on a hill overlooking the port and bay. Nice dinner choices, wine selection and ambiance. Excellent service. Would come back again.

Rang "off chance" for a quiet dinner. Land Shanks and Seafood were excellent. The wine choices were good and the service very friendly. If you wish a quiet and tasty dinner then this is a great place outside the town centre. Well worth while!

Thank you for you comments. Bridget as part owner works very hard to provide consistent quality meals. She does not venture far from the kitchen but after 40 years on cheffing, very much appreciates compliments More

We enjoyed our meal at this quiet restaurant. It's always a good start when you have linen napkins! And we weren't disappointed. The food was beautifully cooked and presented with a touch of creativity. The waiter(s) chatted and made us feel most welcome. We holiday in Airlie Beach each year, visiting family, and this would have been one of the... More

We had superb meals. Barra meal unique and delicious especially the avocado/ mango accompaniment. Sticky pork belly cooked to perfection with the baby pears giving a tasty sweet edge. Staff extremely helpful and cheery. Recommend the smooth Prosecco sparkling too. We were lucky to get a table. Bookings suggested.

Thank you for your comments. My wife is the chef and whilst she does not interact with guests much, appreciates that guests enjoy the hard work that goes into running a kitchen More
