Cute spot downtown

We liked it a lot. Good food and service and one of the very few spots downtown (Chora) that you have other cuisine that souvlakis and you don't sit next to the street. Their local fava beans is a an awesome dish. But all the other local specialties were missing for some weird reason and this is an area for improvement.

An honest restaurant

This restaurant is located in the upper Chora of Skyros. It was a surprise for us when we sat down at its few tables and we tasted the well-cooked traditional dishes!

Not as good as its fame

We visited this restaurant because it was supposed to have a real homemade food. Half of the dishes were actually nice but the other half were way bellow average. The local dolamdakia were very dry and didn't taste that fresh, maybe that is how it is supposed to be (i don't know since it is a local food) but i didn't like it at all. The worst dish was the giaourtlou kebab. The name means kebab with yoghurt, but there was no yoghurt at all! How is that even giaourtlu then? Just a spoonfull of tzatziki on the side. Moreover, the plate was full of onion and paprika powder.

Lovely Greek Food

On a quiet night we were made very welcome. Generous portions of traditional home cooked food. Not every thing on the menu was available, but that is to be expected at this time of year.

Great location and food

What a wonderful evening we had here. We were very hungry and was served immediately and the food was fab. I can’t recommend the stuffed vines leaves enough. But also everything else. And friendly service! Fantastic and not a tourist trap.

One of the best meals in Skyros

O Pappous ki ego is a delightful place, located.in the centre of the town. We sat inside which was perfectly ok because they open the windows and it gets cool enough. Service is friendly, quick and efficient. We had a greek salad and 2 dishes from the day's specials. The beef with aubergine puree was simply delicious. The pork with mastic had not a strong mastic taste but it was great anyway. The fries it was served with were well cooked. We are not sure the local wine is actually local but it is not bad. Prices are ok, so strongly recommended!

Good but Raw

We went to O Papous Ki Ego based on recommendations from friends. One thing is for certain — everything is fresh — actually, too fresh to the point of frozen. Our mussels came in beautiful tomato sauce but the mussels were undercooked and some were frozen. If you have a taste for fresh food (raw), definitely try this place. If not ask them to cook the food well!

An enjoyable tasty meal was had with a helpful waiter who was happy to explain unfamiliar local foods such as the lathopsomo. We tried the lemon goat and enjoyed it. Centrally located in the town amongst other eateries and craft/souvenir stores you can walk off your meal afterwards!

Very good food!

Although this is primarily a meat place, we had no problem finding vegetarian options which were actually very well-cooked and very original dishes. I loved the mixed pulses salad.

Good idea, but could be better

The place is nice (even other locations on the island are nice), but just a bit small when in the evening is packed, difficult to move. The food is ok, nothing fantastic but good if you want to try local specialities. Fish is good!
