I went to the restaurant with my family and another couple and their kids. I was really curious by one particular negative review that said that he wanted to "barf on the table....the food was that bad". That review actually made me want to go and visit. More on his review later. The food in this place is excellent and the service is A+. We loved the specialty drinks, and the Octopus is amazing. Our server was extremely attentive, and everyone raved about how great the food was. I then got to thinking about the negative review and all I can think of is that this restaurant caters to people with a sophisticated palate and that his "mofongo" accustomed taste was not used to eating the type of food served at this restaurant. My only gripe? It's a bit pricey for a restaurant in Puerto Rico, we paid the average of $100 per person, I have eaten at 2-star Michelin Restaurants in Spain for about the same price. But such is life in Puerto Rico.

I have nothing negative to say about Estela. I see people complaining about pricing but you get what you pay for. The service was unbelievable from the moment we walked to the front door. The food was amazing, the Chef came out and served us dessert and gave us tips on how to prepare dishes at home. If you're in the area this is a must eat at spot

I live near Washington DC so I have had the opportunity to eat at many great restaurants. I really enjoyed my meal at Estela! The service was great the food was delicious. I would recommend that anyone who is not use to a fine dining environment skip this. I saw reviews mentioning that the price was to high for the amount of food. The portions were perfect. the price matched the level of food and service provided. This is not a place that piles as much food as possible on your plate. It provides a quality, beautiful meal with exquisite flavors. Not one of the 4 people at my table felt as if they did not have enough to eat.

We were looking forward to dining here, but were sorely disappointed by our meal and the entire experience. The ceviche appetizer was overly sour/limey with no sweet or salt to balance, the squash appetizer an average ‘meh’ at best. We both had snapper that was overcooked and served on bland boiled purple potatoes with an overly garlicky sauce to overcompensate for the flavor. The only decent thing we ordered were our drinks. We were never offered another round though, and when we didn’t order dessert we were rushed out by our waiter (who was on his phone watching videos) because they ‘needed our table.’ The total time we were there was 45 minutes! So rude. If you’re used to fine dining, save yourself the disappointment and go elsewhere.

We were disappointed in our experience and wouldn’t go back. We were so excited to try this place, but you will break the bank trying to leave full! For two people we ordered 3 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts, then went and got a pizza afterwards. And no, we are not 800lbs and did not need second dinner after any other meals we had, the plates are literally one bite each. On top of that, the food itself was hit or miss. A few things were out of this world good, some were not good at all.

Estela was one of our favorite restaurants so we find it difficult to criticize it. The service is first but the food did not give the grade. As an appetizer we ordered his turbot ceviche that summed up good but nothing extraordinary. It was missing the spicy element. Then I ordered the duck breast that advertised how it was 8 ounces when it didn't go beyond 5. The Pachuca skin came “soggy” and the breast completely cold, how contour I think it had 3 leaves of lettuce. My wife ordered the turbot in broth with orzo that proved untasteful. Carlos, our waiter took my duck to get another quickie, but after waiting 20 minutes we canceled the order and left. It seemed to me that we were in another restaurant and not in the one that was our favorite. We're disappointed.

This was a top restaurant in the area per Trip Advisor. The location is basically an old home converted into a restaurant. They actually did a good job both inside and out. Most locations like this tend to be an horrific eyesore. Must reserve. Parking space available. Excellent reception and seating by well trained staff. We chose to be inside since it was rainy/humid and we were kind of beach casual elegant. Inside the décor is basic, low-key, minimalist, but welcoming. Bench type seating against the wall is uncomfortable and screams to provide cushions (please!). Music low and fitting the ambiance. Appetizer was pumpkin soup (great but you really cannot go wrong with a natural pumpkin soup). My girlfriend ordered white wine and I ordered a house cocktail (frozen hibiscus lollipop - I forgot the name). The cocktail was quite the interest as it changes color once the frozen hibiscus lollipop starts to melt. But the drink was kind of tasteless and nearly virgin (minimal alcohol). Only had one as we were going into town afterwards to barhop and have real drinks. Prime Ribeye was good but only as good as what I prepare at home to be honest. It was nowhere near wow which is what I was expecting for the hefty price being charged. My girlfriends scallops plate was delicious but again similar to something I can prepare at home of equal quality (just buttered and pan cooked). It was small. Just 3 scallops & some puree vegetable and at a hefty price. If you are hungry you will remain hungry and that was a main plate. I guess the highlight of this rather uneventful dining experience was the dessert - El Origen. A work of art and it should be for $20 a pop. Quiet unique and the best part of the experience. I believe there are much better options nearby in this level such as Taste, Capriccio, Reina Mora, Chefs Garden. In essence, the food looks like artwork but falls short on "wow factor".

Such an exceptional meal, and on point service. Our waiter, Kenneth, was very attentive providing detailed descriptions and takes on the menu as well as the kind of attention to coursing and plating that you hope for in a slightly pricier dining experience. The chicken- and I never order the chicken in a restaurant setting- was truly exceptional. The cocktails were very well executed. Would highly recommend.

Dinner was outstanding! From the cocktails to dessert!! Carlos our waiter knew the menu perfectly and answered all of our questions and provided recommendations. Chef Abel has crafted an excellent menu selection. The Brussels sprouts are a must! The ceviche was perfect - with different fishes, octopus, and other yummies! The main entrees were delicious. Our party of five had a range from the tuna to pork chop to gnocchi, and catch of the day. Nothing disappointed! Dessert is a must - we ordered one of each and we all had our favorites among them. Make reservations!!

Enjoyed all courses. Appetizer was tasty. Seafood was fresh, pork was enjoyable. Ambiance was ok. Would definitely go back found food to be one of our better experiences on the island as it was both well seasoned and not fried or overly greasy.

Elegant food , detailed with thoughtful touches . Duck, pork , vegetables everything was cooked perfectly . Desert was the perfect ending to our evening . The chef came out to greet the tables and was extremely genuine , the service was excellent, all staff members knew the menu inside out . Cocktails had beautiful tasty garnishes including fancy ice shapes. Ambience was relaxed , and quiet. Felt like we were in Manhattan , this place does not skip a beat . Probably the best restaurant in Rincon, top ten in Puerto Rico i would think ! The chef was able to balance Caribbean flavors into every meal with out feeling overwhelmed and still wanting more. If you want a special meal and want to get out of the typical heavier Latin dishes this is your place you won’t be disappointed.

Estela is a legit, chef inspired restaurant. The food was delicious, unique, and perfectly prepared. Changeable menu that covers all the bases from Vegan to Kubota Pork Porterhouse. Their hand crafted cocktails were also delicious. Service (by Angelica) was super gracious and professional. This Chef has achieved a lovely balance of his flavors, all present and none overpowering.

This restaurant has had really good reviews over the years, but did not reflect our recent experience. The wait staff are still really good but the restaurant looks tired and somewhere that the passion isn't what it used to be. I had the shrimp coconut dish and it was like a really expensive version of Thai food. The brussel sprout dish had good flavor, but there was so much sugar in it that it over powered the dish. My husband had the fish with lentils and potato. It looked as though they had taken a can of lentil soup and for presentation every thing was brown. Would not return!

Dinner exceeded our expectations. We sat outside on their deck as indoor seating was not available. Yet, it was very confortable. Menu had a variety of proteins, side dishes and vegetarian/vegan options. Wine list is limited but we tried two different white wines that were delicious and a perfect match with our selection of plates. Our dinner was delicious and we enjoyed the service. Key lime pie brûlée was a an absolute winner. Met the chef Abel while we were leaving and had a very cheerful conversation. Rincón’s beaches and Estela are definitely worth a getaway weekend.

Food was superb and exquisite!! Had an excellent dinning experience that was topped with a great service. This restaurant is definitely a must when you visit Rincón! Try their brussel sprouts appetizer; it will change the way you eat your veggies. Their Key Lime Pie is delicious. And the dinner and excellent service were definitely worth the trip. Congrats to their Chef Abel Mendoza and the rest of the team!!
