We had spent all morning hiking up a hill in the cold and our feet were knackered. We found this cafe via TripAdvisor. The cafe is quirky inside- a bit like being in your grandmas lounge, if feels familiar and comforting. We had cappuccinos and they were lovely. Good flavour and very smooth milk. This was a fantastic way to... More

We had dinner here during our visit because we wanted to try the local food. we had a chicken dish with noodles, which I would describe as more like spatazle . The portions are very large but delicious, we shared a dessert which we could hardly finish. The served us local wine and a full bar is available.

It's been a year since me and my girlfriend stopped here for some mulled wine to get warmed up and some cake. The place is very welcoming, cozy, very welcoming staff. Didn't try the main menu but the cake we had was delicious. We do intend to visit the beautiful city again some time and we'll definitely go to Marvelosa... More

It was raining and we stopped for a hot drink. The tea and mulled wine were very nice and the applecake is really good too.

The restaurant has original are everywhere and there is a great view of the Danube river. The food is excellent. The matzoh ball soup is to die for. This time I had duck leg, which had a nice crispy skin. My wife and our friend had sztrapacska, a noodle dish with sheep cheese and bacon. Also excellent. If you still... More

This was right down the street from our hotel and we went in for lunch. It was delicious! Sat upstairs overlooking river, and enjoyed hot tea, roasted duck with potatoes and cabbage. Staff was super friendly and thanked us repeatedly for coming.

There are a few things that stand out about this restaurant - the very friendly and welcoming staff, the nicely decorated interior, the good location near the chain liked bridge, and most importantly the delicious food that tastes like it was made from scratch. My husband had the goulash and said it was the best he had had in Budapest.... More

Home environment and cooking. Food was delicious and prices very correct. Service average and a bit bored unless you are served by the owner-cook or her daughter. Only problem is that due to bad ventilation, all the kitchen odors are carried onto your clothes and back to the Hotel.

In Buda area, there are not that many good restaurants, maybe because it's the main tourist area. So, if you are planning to go up to the hill, this is a perfect choice for lunch before your tour. The Goulash was the best we've tried and the owner was so kind. The price was a bit higher than we expected,... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
