Wow what a find just a few steps from our hotel. Unfortunately we only found it the lunchtime on the day we left for home. My husband loves his beer and he had a great afternoon trying some of the very strong and very tasty Belgium beers. We decided to stay and have lunch which turned out to be a... More

Just a stone's throw from our hotel, we ate dinner here twice during our stay. Very nice laid-back and relaxing atmosphere. The catfish soup was really excellent and there was a good, varied selection of mains - a standout being the chicken and mushroom dish served with delicious creamed potatoes. Be warned - the weiner schnitzel is huge. Great selection... More

The restaurant was next door to the hotel I was staying in. There was a private party in the main restaurant. We ate outside wrapped in blankets. Service was excellent. Food tasty and beer fantastic choice. Thoroughly recommended.

My partner and I decided to eat dinner here after a long walk round the river. I had the goose leg which was delicious, my partner had the schnitzel which was huge and very tasty! Very reasonably priced and good service! Highly recommend!

This is an excellent place for food. I worked my way through most of the main dishes apart from the fish (though from what I saw that looked good to). Every dish I had was mouth watering. Along with the fact they have an excellent choice of Belgium beer (Delerium and Chimay). The service was also excellent and they seem... More

Dunaparti Matroz Kocsma is a wonderful Belgium Tavern we have been visiting for many years now and this place gets better and better with each passing year. Located on Buda side of this gorgeous city and not to far from the stunning Chain Bridge the tavern is awesome. It's a maritime themed tavern which is evident with the wooden Sailor... More

Great location across from the river with a view of the Parliament and the Chain Bridge depending where you're sitting. We had schnitzel which we loved. Casual relaxed setting, pleasant staff, reasonable prices & good hearty food. Definitely recommend.

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
