We visited this restaurant on Valentine's Day, so had pre booked our table - it was easy to contact the restaurant via email before our visit and they mentioned they were usually quite busy (they will only hold a reserved table for up to 20 minutes), so would recommend booking in advance. The restaurant has a very intimate atmosphere with... More

This is not your typical Michelin place - style is informal, with waiters having fun with the guests (which I have really appreciated). Our waiter Zoltan was amazing with keeping us well fed and showed us loads of amazing local wine! Will definitely come back!

The wild boar was exceptional, and all the other dishes were really great too! Would happily eat here again! Made our valentines extra special!

Went here for dinner on a Saturday evening as a couple. We had called for reservations in advance but they did not have any tables available, only seating at the bar. We were a little reluctant to sit at a bar for such a nice dinner, but once arriving at the restaurant we realized it was a comfortable seating option.... More

Good venue, very supportive as one of our friends was ill so we couldn't go at our original time and then she was unable to come at all. Great menu - went with veal brain, partridge ravioli with partridge broth and pork Hungarian style. Every course was visually impressive and super tasty. Only reason for not giving a 5 was... More

i think this is the most affordable quality restaurant in europe. very cozy place but ofcourse excluding busy nights as it tends to be packed during dinner. you can make a reservation thru email (very efficient especially when you're abroad) evening service has 2 sets 18-20.30 & 21-23.30, serving authentic hungarian cuisine on a contemporary french bistro setting.

This restaurant was not what we had hoped it to be. The welcome was warm and open, we were seated and given the menus. We waited some time to be offered drinks in my view. We chose a wine on recommendation and it was the opposite to how we described we would like it to be. The duck liver was... More

Wow what can I say, booked for a lunch and spent 4 hours here having 4 courses, two bottles of wine and the bill came to £127 including the added gratuity of 15% (they all seen to do this here). I must say the food is absolutely unbelievable, such incredible flavours and creative ideas. Cannot fault it.

Our dinner at Borkonyha was just amazing. The food was excellent and the local wines were as good. Our waiter was very professional and he was able to recommend the best wine and red wine to have with our meal. It was a lovely evening and I would go back any day!

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
