Busy, lively, friendly bar with an astonishing array of beers on offer (but perfectly decent house rose wine for this non-beer lover)! We had a lovely meal, well cooked (veal goulash, very tender and a goats chees stuffed chicken breast), generous portions.

If you're tired of paprika, it's recommended to visit this restaurant in Buda, very close to the Chain Bridge. Eaten here the best tuna steak ever. Of course, if you're a beer lover, it's a must to have one here, however it's a bit difficult to decide on which one...

I'm not a beer drinker but I bet if you are, you'll really enjoy this place! We came for dinner during a cold rainy evening and had a lovely meal paired with recommended pale ales. My partner started with duck pate and I had a salad with Brie, both delicious! My partner's entree was a special pork chop with mashed... More

Very cosy place with indoor and outdoor service, in a quiet street 5 min from the Chain Bridge. Exquisite beer menu with wide selections, very good and tasty food. Attentive service, especially outdoor. Great value for money.

The personnel was friendly, the food delicious. I had grilled pork with a spicy sauce and for dessert white chocolate cheese cake with chocolate crust and blackberries. It was all very good. Unfortunately, there was a group of men who stabbed the quiet atmosphere with raucous laughter about every 45 seconds. But it is, after all, a beer bar. I... More

Found this place tucked away on a recent visit to Budapest. It is situated at the bottom of Buda Castle Hill but off the main street so not too hard to find. We stopped for lunch and had a fish platter for two which was exceptional and some of the best seafood I have tried! Everything was cooked to perfection... More

As the Carlton Hotel does not serve evening meals, we decided to eat here on our first evening in Budapest. I knew beforehand that it had good reviews on TA. Completely justified and certainly not just on account of its convenient location. Tonight was our third meal there and we finally made it to the dessert menu - just delicious!... More

Went to the Pater Marcus Belgian Abbey Restaurant because it was just outside out hotel (the Carlton Hotel Budapest) ... we checked the menu and there were a number of items that appealed to us ... it was very hard to decide, everything sounded delicious. The staff were wonderful, they apologized for their 'poor' English, which was not necessary as... More

Located on the Buda side of this gorgeous city and found at the foot of the Carlton Hotel this is a special bar. On viewing the bar your in no doubt that your... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
