After walking back to St Stephen's Basilica after a long day exploring we stumbled across Gelarto Rosa. If it wasn't for the Floral icecream sign outside we would've missed it completely! We both had white chocolate lavender with strawberry and raspberry and look how beautiful they look! Really surprised we could taste both the lavender and white chocolate together and... More

Gelarto is literally across the road from the Basilica in Budapest. We visited the Basilica and were walking away when we noticed a number of people with intriguing ice creams, looking just like flowers. Obviously we had to try these and got two different "roses". The ice cream itself tastes very similar to that from other ice cream shops, but... More

Why you will have the regular ball of ice cream when you can have a delicious rose? The price of the icecream is more cheap than some places in Italy and depends from how many flavours. The flavours are really delicious, not at the same level as some Italian`s places but will suprise you! Just watching they doing the rose... More

I guess the speciality of this gelateria is that they fashion roses out of your dessert. Delicious & pretty at the same time. You can choose two, three or four flavours. It's surprisingly cheap - I took chilli chocolate & lime sorbet - it was two euros only! This place is right in front of St. Istvan Basilica.

A huge choice and fantastic flavours and then shaped into roses, it almost looks too good to eat. The ladies in the shop make the rose forming seem effortless.

Teenagers first request after a meal is to have dessert from Gelarto Rosa. Reasonably priced and great to watch them make a rose cornet for you. Salted caramel popular with us this year!

Worth waiting in line for. All of the flavors are amazing. Two locations near St Stephen's Basilica. You pay the cashier first, for the amount of flavors (2, 3, or 4) and then you hand the ticket to the person who will make your ice cream and you tell them your flavors. They speak English. Cash (Forints) or Credit accepted.

Located in the center of Budapest (Basilica), Gelarto Rosa is THE BEST ice cream in this town! Owner, the charismatic Niki Szokron studied the secrets of old Italian family recipes straight from the source in Italy and brought it back to her city. The philosophy behind it: fresh and true quality ingredients, old Italian traditions, modern technic and as final touch, add artistic creativity. The pretty ice cream girls at Niki's shop "create" each and every portion or cone as a unique artwork using ice cream as art material. It's simply amazing! Don't miss Peti (the barista) great Italian style coffee, and have real French macaroon from Juliette McAron.

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
