At first, we didn't know where we were eventually being led to...a cellar...but the place is FUN. The staff was super-friendly to us and the food was great. We were so pleased that we went back another night!

This is an interesting restaurant within a block or so of the Fisherman’s Bastion, Mattias Church and other tourist sites. It has several levels. On top is an outdoor restaurant and bar. Down several flights of stairs is a cellar/ cavern (brick lined) that is another dining area. It has some charm. The food is clearly pricey and mediocre. Some... More

Interesting venue so to speak. Joke was on me.... Didn't catch the name until we left, I thought those ugly creatures we representing Bacchus. Cellar dining was cool. It was late and we just wanted soup.... Which was good. Service was unimpressive. Still, we had a good time... We were in Buda it was late and magical... What's not to... More

Three of us came on a recommendation from a friend. Let's just say we are no longer in contact. We walked all the way up from the river, and were keen for some simple, original, Hungarian food for dinner. We wound our way down into the cellar. It's cold, quiet with only a couple of tables occupied and there is... More

Found in a 13th century cellar, this small restaurant is decorated entirely with images of the Devil. Our visit was a light lunch, but the food was well prepared, tasty and reasonably priced. Worth a trip just to see the building.

We were attracted by the setting at the end of the alleyway. It was cold so we chose to sit in the cellar restaurant instead of outside. The cellar is very deep an probably was a working cellar for the house back in the 1600's. The original stone walls are attractive but they went overboard with the devil models. The... More

We ended up eating here as every other restaurant was full. Here was empty, which says something. I ordered goulash soup. It was terrible. Watery and oily, the meat very scarce. I didn't have any flavour. My boyfriend ordered some steak which looked like cantine food and it was more expensive than in the restaurants in the centre. Everything was... More

Asked the daily menu. The meat was terrible and overpriced. The service is not bad but food is far from average.

My partner wanted to try here as she thought the place looked interesting which it did so I agreeded before checking it out on Tripadvisor first. We walked through the alley to the open terraced although there is dinning inside down in the original cellars. Service was prompt with our drink order & decided to share a club sandwich which... Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
