The Basilica was a wonderful backdrop for a quick lunch stop on a gloriously sunny day. Goulash soup and a bottle of local wine, gazing at the glittering detail on the Basilica against a deep blue sky. Equally lively later in the day and atmospheric...More

Asked for a cocktail and then the barman asked me how to make it. Granted it's not a popular cocktail this side of the Atlantic, but come on. Ordered a bog standard Cosmo.... Nothing special. Best stay well clear if you like cocktails.

The location of this bar / restaurant really makes it - right next to the Basilica which is very atmospheric at night in the summer. A good list of cocktails, which are very tasty and not too expensive, and a good choice of meals with...More

Was there a few times during this trip. Friendly staff who took an interest in their guests. Great outdoor terrace. The DJ even played a request for us!

Dull cramped and pretentious and charge service charge on every drink. No atmosphere for a Saturday night with everyone including the staff looking bored

After trying to avoid the tourist traps on Vaci Utca, I came upon Negro Cafe. It seemed to be mainly locals rather than tourists sitting outside so I gave it a try. The venue is upscale and intended to be a socialing place for trendy...More

No idea why this bar had so many Rum based cocktails, but there was certainly a huge variety, plus others too. We visited a couple of times and the staff were excellent. Little pricey, but very trendy for people watching. Didn't get chance to eat...More

District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube,
with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The
Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica
stand out as two of the finest examples of
architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for
more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval
city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while
the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention
