A wonderful space, and with a great feel for a lost world. But the waiter told us that the whole thing was a recreation after the building was handed back to the owners by the state in the mid Twentieth century, it having been stripped bare during the Iron Curtain period. Nonetheless as good place for breakfast, but don't hold... More

We only had breakfast, eggs, omelette and pastries but they were delicious and fresh. Good service and attention to detail. Will definitely return to try other stuff from the menu.

A fantastic place to catch your breath during exploring of Budapest. The city is known to have had more cafes than Paris before WWII, and this one is a real gem. Coffee, cakes and service are all to the best of standards. I went there twice during my stay in the Hungarian capital.

This place is really something special. The home of Hungarian literature scene and one of the oldest cafes in Hungary. Prices are probably a bit higher than in other places but the atmosphere is worth it. Good coffee and cakes also. Nice staff.

We had lunch here which was simply lovely. Helpful staff with great GLuten Free knowledge and good recommendations for the food. The food itself was so good we decided to go back a few days later for afternoon tea. One of the things that was recommended was a brilliant gf sweet made from almond flour and cheesecake and jelly, so... More

We got not what we ordered, waiters did not pay attention to guests, had to wait a lot, communication was poor, service overall is bad. They did not bring back change , though there is a 15%service fee included. Coffee was below average quality, cake was good. Place is nice, but the staff doesnt meet requirements of such a coffee... This is a wonderful Viennese style café in Central Budapest, touristy with tourist prices but we really liked it. We made two visits here. On the first occasion we opted for lunch and were seated in the dining area to the left. The staff were really welcoming and polite and were also knowledgeable in respect to gluten in food. The... This cafe is definitely set up for tourists but it's beautiful - it's ornate and traditional - great service - food was fab and you get a bi-lingual newspaper style info sheet about the cafe & Budapest which is very interesting

Beautiful area was unfortunately spoiled by unprofessional service. Food was decent, but not for the prices. Ordered hot chocolate arrived only after we repeatedly reminded the waitress, but tasted poorly anyway.

Thank Petr P

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
