Yeah, THE Hungarian fare with Hungarians at the next table. Saying that being a local. You do streetfood in Asia? This is a must-visit place then. Try something from the daily menu. Try raspberry (málna) syrup drink. Hints: you pay at the door before you...More

This is a simple cafe, with few tourists the day we went. The matzo ball soup and cholent were tasty and good value. The goose leg puts the price up, but was the best ones we have had. Very filling quick service. Slightly pushy waitress.

Atmosphere was very basic. I guess you could call it local. The food was tasty and cheap. Service was not unpleasant but a bit pushy about making sure you tip. Didn't even have Goulash on the menu though, which is so local I really would...More

It's a very local eatery serving the quarter with many daily customers. Menu didn't change for ages and features Jewish oriented home cooking. If you are for memories the Cholent Is very good.

Very interesting atmosphere. If you want to see authentic old Jewish-Hungarian restaurant, this is it. Probably, it is always crowded since this place is on everywhere. Many tourist. Food was interesting. It was good, but not excellent. And portion was small.

Stay away. The food reminded me of a terrible cafeteria from my time in the army. Some members of our party chose not to eat their food. Only good thing to say about this place is the authentic atmosphere.

I read about that place before my trip to Budapest. Had great hopes for local food in good price. Food was very average. Very rude thing is that a water and bread on the table is not free, they should inform about it. So in...More

Kadar is a quite unique eating experience, in many ways. Authentic it certainly is; the cafe itself is a kind of time piece. Vintage seating, wall photos etc, old school food and service. No alcohol or coffee on offer. A kind of Hungarian Fawlty Towers...More

Unpretentious setting full of memorabilia, wood panels, photographs and checked tablecloths; you can go back in time at Kadar. The waitresses are very welcoming from the moment you arrive. They come by the table and explain the menu in English and recommend some classic dishes....More

If you want to live a real traditional hungarian experience, then this is the place. The things on the wall, the atmosphere, the location - not in a touristic spot - are well worth a visit. Although, the menu is very essential and pretty incomprehensible,...More

District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses
the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and
colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in
an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes
and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic
crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of
the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in
Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly
