Service was very good and all were helpful. We managed to get a table without booking on both occcassions but we did eat fairly early and i would recommed booking for later... More

Tucked down a side street , little place with a relaxed atmosphere and great service. Dining alone I felt fine. Hungarian menu but with veggie choices that were not the usual mushroom stroganoff.

Koleves is a in the Budapest Jewish Quarter. Walked past it the night before and it was packed out, always a good sign and it had good vegetarian choices. Great atmosphere and good service. We ended up going there twice in our 4 day trip. Highly recommend it but make sure to book in advance.

We were pleasantly surprised with this restaurant, and would have definitely gone back again if we had spent more time in Budapest. The menu has many Hungarian specialties prepared in a modern and tasteful way - we really learned to appreciate Hungarian food while dining here. They also have quite an extensive Hungarian wine menu and a good selection of... More

We got the recommendation for the Koleves from a local tour guide and it was one of the best food I ever tried, absolutely delicious. The restaurant is also decorated very pretty and the staff is nice and attentive. Definitely worth a visit!

A funky , cool atmosphere with a farm to table menu, we liked it so much we dined here twice. The menu changes depending on meat and produce availability. We had a superb artichoke soup , a mixed blue cheese salad , "THE LAMB" ...so succulent, best I've ever eaten and we finished our meal with an irresistible pistachio tiramisu.... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
