Visited this restaurant twice during our 5 night stay in Budapest. Lovely traditional Hungarian restaurant. Fab service and food. Very much enjoyed the pianist who played both evenings we were there.

While in Budapest for the Christmas markets we had trouble trying to find a good restaurant at short notice (a lot of places were fully booked). We were lucky that had a cancellation and we had a very good meal in this restaurant with friendly staff. The clientele were mainly Jewish families & couples enjoying the live music which they... First of all, the warm welcome from the wait staff was very pleasant and right away made us feel comfortable and happy to be there. We were waited on by Thomas who was cordial and very helpful, providing us good suggestions based on what we wanted and also suggesting wine pairings based on our order. When we insisted on something... More

Very polite waiter, helped me choose a nice wine & adorable pianist playing throughout our meal. Not too expensive and good portion sizes.

We went for the Klezmer music evening which comprised a glass of deeply average fizzy wine, a wonderful short concert in a little theatre at the back with ridiculously talented musicians, followed by a set menu back in the restaurant. The choices seemed a bit limited initially, but the food turned out to be delicious (we had hummus and bread,... More

Great local Hungarian & Jewish menu in a place that seems like its been the same since the 1920's. Great owner & staff. Great menu. Had the hummus, goose pate & egg plant starters to share - all good. Chicken schnitzel and roast goose (not together) were the mains, Too full for desert. Good wine recommendations. Great value. What's not... More

Spinoza was recommended to us and it was decent, not very good or excellent though. My partner was not very well there unfotunately so he cannot comment on the goulash he had. My antipasti was nice and chicken salad not too bad, a bit dry though. Service was ok. The Live piano music was probably the best part of the... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
