Tucked away nearby the Plaja Major. Great tapas selection; as good as any of the places we had visited on our holiday but a lot less expensive. Well worth a visit, we went for lunch and got a table straightaway, however within 15 minutes, there was a big queue outside.

In case you are curious - What does Taberna la Botija mean? A taberna was a single room shop covered by a barrel vault within the great indoor markets of ancient Rome. Yep, we are going back that far. The botija is a potbellied earthenware jug or jar with two openings. The botija was iniitially used to hold kerosene brought from... More

This place is open 242 hours and there is always a queue of customers. With reason! The food is excellent, with a very wide choice of fresh ingredients and more than can usually be found in a Cuban restaurant (including fresh salads). The atmosphere is slightly odd but reflects the history of the city. Great food, great drinks, definitely worth... More

We were really impressed by the great, tasty food and the wonderful service at this restaurant. We rate it as one of the better restaurants we ate at during our time in Cuba. The staff were attentive, friendly and enthusiastic.

We arrived at the Taberna before it was open for food. They graciously allowed us to sit, with drinks, for the hour before lunch. Lunch was delicious and staff was attentive. We asked if we could buy the embroidered napkins as a souvenir and the owner gave one to each couple as a gift. Good food, gracious hosts!

We loved the food and atmosphere here. The music is amazing local music, 3 pieces or so. There is usually a wait but if you go before 7pm it is better. Happy hour ends at 6pm and was a good deal(but we didn't make that). The seafood and pork skewers were presented hanging and not only looked good but tasted... More

They have live music every evening. The restaurant is open apparently 24/7 (couldn't verify that). Food was basic and nice, Great sandwich with plantain chips. Staff are nice and very efficient. Our casa was very close to this restaurant and whenever we passed by, the restaurant looked busy.

We read about La Botija on a blog and are so glad we visited. The tapas style food was delicious and a nice change to the food we had been eating over the fortnight we were in Cuba. The music was another highlight, such good performers who added to the great atmosphere. I popped my head into the kitchen on... More
