Good Guinness, food and atmosphere. What else so you want from an Irish Pub. Just away from the heat and bustle of DuPont Circle its definitely worth a visit.

We could so easily have continued walking. So glad we went in for the food. The shepherds Pie was to die for. It was a hug to the tummy. They also has secure wi-fi.

We sat on the patio and it didn't seem that busy but the service took forever. At one point one of the servers was going around and checking who had been helped because several parties hadn't. Food was just average and we never got refills...More

I went to Hoban's on a quiet early weekday afternoon and there were only around 25 people at and around the bar, but we were all taken care of and the bartender was friendly to each of us. This was not the case with all...More

Our large party of 11 enjoyed a cool evening on the patio recently. The wait staff, especially the hostess, was exceptionally pleasant and accommodating. They provided good recommendations, especially about the drinks, and raved about the Chicken Pot Pie. Our party tried a number of...More

I liked it. I swung in one night when on a business trip. The service was frantic, but good. I had the chicken pot pie, which was good, but not great. I would go back!

I have only sent one meal back in my life (the day I got engaged in 1995). Last night marked the second. The mashed potatoes quite literally tasted like the smell of the inner workings of a dairy farm and the "medium" steak was leather....More

Came with 4 baguette slices, wouldn't even cover 3. Ridiculous. Only one waiter for outside seating.

Popped in for a post run breakfast. Was nice enough. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Large portions. $45 for Irish breakfast, omelette, coffee and 2 lattes.

Hi - I am looking for a new place to host an upcoming happy hour - of 10 people on a Wednesday evening - is this a good spot for a smallish happy hour - (a happy hour mostly about networking not getting happy)? How is the noise level? Is there a spot that could accommodate 10? Or would it be a standing around the bar situation? Any advice would be great! Thanks Helen

Description
James Hoban's proudly offers guests a modern day taste of Ireland. We have endeavored to bring to Washington a flavor of today's Ireland, with a look that presents our most cherished traditional aspects yet also displays modern Ireland's strong European culinary influences. But while Great Irish cuisine comes naturally at James Hoban's, a very memorable dining experience is about more than the food. It's when the warm host, witty bartender, and savvy waiter treat you like family. It's the live music, the strong drinks, and the great company, all in our nation's capital. Stop by for a pint or a plate and experience what has been called a "neighborhood gem" and "warmth in the heart of Dupont."
