Atmosphere is nothing like what was described. We went at prime time on Saturday evening and it was totally dead in there. Food lacks any real hint of being cajun food. We both had gumbo (worst we have had anywhere, anytime), I had blackened catfish - a staple for a cajun restaurant, but there was no cajun, and my wife... More

Hubby and I went for a Sunday afternoon dinner. The restaurant was ok, not very eye appealing, dark inside and dirty picnic tables on the outside. But a decent neighborhood gem with decent food. Hubby is from LA, so he is VERY persnickety about his down home food being done right. He ordered the boudain balls as an appetizer....not well... More

Heard there was a Mardi Gras celebration there while we were in town so we just had to check it out. There was a $25 cover charge but you had access to a full buffet and great music. We were in DC over Mardi Gras so it was great to have our Fat Tuesday fun. Met so many people that... More

I ate here twice on my recent trip. Once it was busy and once slow. The service and the food were casual and comfortable, the menu offering small bites and full meals at a price appropriate to its target. It had an energy without being too loud and the menu covers a really nice range. I've rated it Excellent rather... More

6 of us enjoyed dinner here recently. The Due South burger is to die for!! The wedge salad and the tuna were delicious as well. Highly recommend this neighborhood gem! Great service too.

Wanted to try New Orleans style restaurant and based on the reviews gave it a try. Ordered the fried green tomato appetizer, $10 and got 2 very small, thin rather bland tomatoes. Very disappointed. My husband loves sea food and ordered the Jambalaya, he wasn't impressed. I had a salad. I usually can't finish my salads, but this was not... More

If you are staying near the Foggy Bottom area in DC and you are looking for a reasonably priced dinner with a taste of Louisiana, be sure to make a stop at Bayou.

We had dinner during a recent family trip in Washington. It was located right across our hotel. The food and service was very good. We received great service. The ambience and the decor of the place is nice. The drinks though was so-so. W

My husband and I just returned from the inauguration. We saw Bayou on a walk and thought to give it a try. Awesome staff, quiet little bar/restaurant and no wait. We both had the shrimp and grits. Without a doubt the best we ever had! For a bar, there is no draft beer only bottles which was a bit disappointing.... More
