First culinary stop always when in DC. Best half-smoked hotdogs in town - if not every. Relaxed ambiance, friendly staff, good collection of accompanying beers on tap!

Dropped in here on a Saturday evening, I thought I had walked in to a club. The noise was so bad I couldn't hear the person I was with. The waitress even complained about the noise. I took forever for food to come to table, and it first was sent to the wrong table. When it did get there was... More

A coworker/friend and I went to Ben's Next Door for lunch on 3/9/2017. This was our first visit to Ben's Next Door, but certainly not our last. We both ordered the Chicken and Waffles. I also ordered a side of french fries. I saw so many plates of fries pass me, I had to order some. All my friends know,... More

Not so happy. May have been understaffed but people two deep at the bar and only one bartender. When food and drink orders we're finally taken there was no acknowledgment of the wait (just shy of 30 min's). Saw group of three just walk out after waiting another 30 min for a Wings order. Quality of cocktail and food are... More

Nothing super awesome but food was good. It is a staple in the area so I do suggest going if you are visiting.

Great place to be in the neighborhood of U street community. Ben's Next Door is true to the name, it is located in the building right next to iconic Ben's Chili's Bowl in the heart of U street night life. Next Door is on a handful of places in U street area that serves lunch. The place is narrow and... More

I met a friend here for brunch on MLK day. They had a MLK meal (heads up). I'm from South Carolina and wanted grits and seafood, and I was gonna get a side of fried chicken but decided against it (which is good because I was stuffed) My food was tasty. The closest cuisine I've gotten to home so far.... More

We looked for something that was filling and good late that evening. This place certainly hit the spot.

Perhaps I selected the wrong items, but the food was very bland. I expected things to be more flavorful from Ben's. Our server was very attentive. I would suggest you skip the shrimp and grits.

We ate here due to being next door to the venue. The food was sub par at best. We started with Calamari with Thai Chili sauce. The meat was tough and overcooked. My husband got the Chicken and Waffle. Very salty chicken. I got the Angus burger and while cooked correctly lacked seasoning of any sort. Drinks were OK. I... More
