This PAUL location is very hit and miss. The bakery is not always fresh, the atmosphere is crowded and messy, and the service is slow.

Love to go to Paul Bakery when I'm in the DC area. Love their fresh pastries and pot of coffee that is served if you are dining in. Their pistachio pastry and their strawberry layered cake is very good. My daughter loves their chocolate bourgandaise pastry. Their staff is always friendly whenever I have visited.

We are fans of Paul's having travelled widely in France. We came here for breakfast and were disappointed. The breakfast choice was quite limited. Standard vienoisserie and not much else. The staff messed up our very simple order. Twice!

Went there for an easy and good breakfast, that's exactly what we got. We know Paul in Europe and it's quite good but this one in DC is much better than what we tried in France.

Pastries from light to hearty, great soups and coffee. Desserts are perfect. Outdoor tables, weather permitting. Good takeout packaging.

My favorite place for a light breakfast in DC. Excellent croissants, pain au chocolat, baguette sandwiches, etc. Only sad thing- not open on Sundays (sigh)...

Yes, Paul has croissants, but have you tried their Gourmandise? It's a chocolate twist that will delight your senses and have you come back for more. Cakes are delicious as well, but we were there for breakfast, so cake will have to wait...

I got a delicious "Paul traditional" bread. Very similar to the bread that I used to eat back home in Europe (Portugal). So far it's the best place in DC to buy decent bread. Also tried the chocolate eclair. It was good but not spectacular. Good service.

The trainee at the cash register didn't know how to operate the system and the two cooks in the kitchen carried on a convo unsullied by thoughts of producing the meal. Still when the typically poor District service was eventually overcome and the food appeared it was not bad. A healthier alternative than fast food and the bread and pastry... More

Paul is one of my favorite places to eat. The quality of food is great and the deserts are fabulous. However, this is all cancelled out by the unprofessional staff, most are rude and loud and most of the the time they don't know what they are selling. Only go here as a last resort. High prices and bad service.
