I've had two wonderful dinners at Range - in the past. Tonight at Range I had one of the single worst dining experiences ever. I was a waiter when I was a young man, so I get how a restaurant works. The staff at Range were completely off their game tonight. The waiter either forgot to place our order with... More

Our server was helpful and friendly and the food was delicious. We ate there on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was probably only half-full. Service was relatively fast without feeling rushed but there wasn't a lot of atmosphere because there were so few other diners and no music. If I was only in the area for one night, I... More

We were staying at the Embassy Suites and needed a place to eat for dinner. We decided to try Range which was right inside the mall. We had no idea who the chef was and were pleasantly surprised. As some of the other readers posted.. the service was slow ,but to me when the food is excellent you let that... More

Last night we had friends in from out of town and went to Range in Friendship Heights. After viewing a very limited menu of maybe a dozen entrees two of us ordered the salmon. Twenty minutes later we were informed that they had run out of this dish. I informed the waiter of my displeasure citing first a limited selection... More

We were excited to be able to get a reservation in one of chef Bryan Voltaggio's signature restaurants, but then we walked into a very large space with a lot of empty tables at 7p on a Saturday night .... Maybe in this location it does most of its business at lunch or on weeknights? Overall, we weren't as impressed... More

With the ordering of bottomless brunch on Saturdays, servers must know how to serve their clients' drinks at a timely fashion. Or else why should they order bottomless brunch. Our server was nowhere in sight after the third drink with two drinks unfinished due to bad mixes. When it came to dessert, it took more than 20 minutes to arrive... More

We live nearby and came for our anniversary. Parts of our meal reached 4- or 5-star quality, and the setting is stylish with plush low-back banquettes great for people watching, but a couple of "meh" items and a boner service error cut into the good impression. And the kitchen repeated a mistake even more pronounced at the Voltaggio restaurant in... More

The menu is limited; however fascinating. My son had the Gnudi with roasted pork and lamb Ragu which was very favorable. My husband had the hanger steak which was cooked to perfection. There is a large selection of wine. The staff was very friendly and helpfu.

I have been to Bryan Voltaggio's Baltimore restaurant, Aggio, and had high expectations. On the positive side: The location is great, right in the "fancy district" of Chevy Chase. Expanse of floor to ceiling windows look out on the center atrium of the Chevy Chase Pavilion. The wine list had a nice range of high end and good value wines.... More

Description
In 2011, after opening three well-received restaurants in Frederick, MD, celebrated Chef Bryan Voltaggio launched his first concept in the nation's capital with RANGE. This spacious 14,000 square-foot restaurant, located in the Friendship Heights neighborhood, includes over 300 seats and 9-kitchen stations, including a raw bar, salumeria, wood-fired grill, pasta station, rotisserie, and bakery. A culmination of all his experiences as a chef, Chef Bryan Voltaggio offers inventive American cuisine inspired by regional mid-Atlantic flavors and ingredients. RANGE-named after the various foods available from local ranges within the Chesapeake watershed-focuses on serving a variety of dishes from an extensive menu of nearly 100 a la carte items. RANGE also shares space with Aggio, Voltaggio's Italian restaurant-within-a-restaurant.
