My wife and I had a dinner on Clyde's with another couple. First impression was really good. As soon as we arrived we were seated, exactly as booked. Appetizer (frito misto) was delicious. The calamari was very tender. I had the duck for my entree what was a great choice. All in my table loved the food. We paid just... More

I really didn't know what to expect when I ordered the Butternut Squash Ravioli, but it was delicious as were the crab cakes. I loved the atmosphere too.

The food and service were both great! The crab cakes may have been the star of the show. The server was friendly and attentive. Note: We arrived on a busy, raining evening and put our name in. Please note: this is an old space and therefore there is NO lobby or waiting area. If you stand by the front door,... More

Stopped in Clydes for lunch. Place was busy and it took a bit to get seated. Once seated the service was quick and very good. The selection of drinks are very good and they are generous. We ordered food and it was at the table at no time. Servings are huge. I had the Rueben and actually I would have... More

A cab driver suggested trying Clyde's and it was proof of why hitting up the locals for recommendations is a great way to go. We ordered the Korean tacos and calamari as our apps. The sauces had a kick, but were out of this world delicious. For dinner, we all had seafood. It was a tough choice because all sounded... More

This is supposedly a reliable hallmark of Georgetown dining, but either we got there on an off day, or its reputation is over-hyped, because our meal was far from memorable. The menu is very blah and predictable, your average burger, salmon, steak place. The decor is fun, if a little cluttered and the staff friendly, but the food itself was... More

A nice restaurant for dining with friends. A good selection of food and great pastas. Easy access and book table in advanced.

I've been going to Clyde's since my then roommate was a waitress there back in 1980, and it remains one of my favorite, comfortable, casual restaurants in DC. It has more offshoots now, but its food remains a solid choice for brunch, lunch or dinner. Georgetown has many restaurant choices, and this is one that is popular with a very... More

Cool place to grab a bite to eat. Ate at bar in the back. Staff really friendly. Had crab dip and a burger for my meal. Happen to be there for happy hour specials on drinks and food. Great offers and food was delicious. If you're in the area worth the visit

We have visited clyde's on a week end and it was busy and vibrant. The decore and setting was really nice. I had a great cup of chilly which really fits the cold weather and also had a corned beef sandwich which was really tasty and we also shared a roast beef sandwich which wasn't as good to be honest.

Description
Opened in 1963, Clyde's of Georgetown qualifies as an institution. This animated tavern in the heart of Washington's most famous neighborhood popularized saloon food and practically invented Sunday brunch. More than 50 years later, Clyde's continues the tradition, serving classic American cuisine to Georgetown locals and famous faces while passers-by stop in and mingle at the long oak bar. The re-designed interior is an open invitation to the restaurant's life and times with its many travel posters, paintings, and bronze statues. Clyde's of Georgetown remains a Washington classic.
