Visited here on a Saturday night. Made a reservation thankfully because it was really busy. The food was fantastic - it was the best guacamole I've ever had, empanadas were great and so we're the Churros. Only problem was we were massively rushed - our mains arrived before we'd even finished our starters then our mains were cleared when we... More

I had always rejected Mexican food before... my husband says it's because I have a poor opinion of TexMex foods. We just walked by this restaurant, it was crowded and appealing, just by looking in. So we requested a table. Every single bite was perfect. Our server suggested guacamole to begin with: it was prepared from scratch right in front... More

We had a wonderful meal at this restaurant. Great family place. Our waiter was terrific. Atmosphere was good. Guacamole made at the table was delicious. The food and drinks were great.

Rosa Mexicano had very good food but it was very difficult to have a conversation due to how loud it was. Install some acoustical treatments to bring down the volume and this would be an excellent restaurant.

Maurice was our server and he made sure our 10 year old granddaughter had a good time. This is a restaurant were the noise level can go high. The dinners absolutely enjoyed the opportunity to sign birthday wishes, congratulations and what ever the celebration might be. A bit noisy for me but the other 4 members in our group did... More

We went here after our tour guide suggested it for happy hour and great margaritas. The margaritas were small (8 oz.?), $12, no special there, and we were seated at an outside dirty table, which the waiter didn't bother to wipe down. We decided not to stay for happy hour, which we weren't sure they even had. Very disappointed.

I had lunch at Rosa Mexicano with a friend a few days ago, and it nearly gagged me. The chicken quesadilla we shared was dried out from cooking. Inside was nothing but unremarkable chunks of chicken and a little bit of cheese. Nada spicing whatsoever and no sauce. Very bland. The black beans and rice served as a side accompaniment... More

The first time we had Rosa Mexicano was in New York more than a year before this visit, and we had really high hopes for it. The portion of the guacamole has gotten smaller, which is really disappointing because I feel like they reduced it by a lot. But overall the food is still very good, I had the Tinga... More

Due to the usual dismal state of Mexican food on the East Coast, for years I was convinced no Mexican chef ever made it east of the Mississippi. But no longer! Rosa Mexicano is definitely a visit-again-and-again restaurant! First of all, the salsa that comes with the chips is wonderful, just the right spiciness and consistency. I had the Pescado... More

Description
Just west of our nation's Capitol, Rosa Mexicano Penn Quarter location is situated in the exceptionally restored 1924 Hecht’s building across from the Verizon Center. As the first Rosa Mexicano to open outside of New York City in December 2003, this D.C. location remains true to its roots by delivering authentic Mexican cuisine in a stylish, festive atmosphere. The interior features eye-catching details that include 14-foot wraparound windows, a spacious bar and lounge area, and a tequila bar offering a wide range of premium selections and margaritas. Traditional folk crafts have also been incorporated throughout the restaurant, most notably in a dramatic series of illuminated pilasters featuring festive Mexican masks mounted on the wall. It’s a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds.
