I had been here a few years ago but when visiting, the family wanted to go back. It is a Belgian food restaurant and we all loved the Belgian waffles. Three people got Bloody Mary drinks and thought they were very good. I got the Belgian waffles with berries an whip cream and it was delicious. Someone else go the... More

We shared the mussels, which were quite nice, and accompanying fries, which were unremarkable. We also shared a mixed green vegetable plate, which was excellent. The wines are overpriced, even relative to other restaurants in the immediate area. Our waiter was fairly brusque and we felt rushed. We were there about 6pm on a Friday evening and were seated inside... More

We wanted a place within walking distance of our VBRO and picked the highest rating on Trip Advisor. Nice neighborhood with people eating inside and outside on the street. A bit noisy, but it was busy! Accommodated our part of eight with 3 children with grace and speed after we had some drinks at the bar. As others have said,... More

We had dinner on a Saturday night at Belga Cafe and had stoofvlees met frietjes with a Belgian beer, a traditional Belgian dish! It was really good. For dessert we had the Dame Blanche and chocomousse with real Belgian chocolate!! We loved it! We love the restaurant and will come back. It felt like coming home !

This is one of my favorite places in DC! As much as I want to own the place and not let any tourists in, I can't very well dent anyone the opportunity to do so! Eat (and drink) up!!!

Good food. Good service. Variety of choices. Roasted brussels sprouts were amazing. Omelet was average. Waffle with egg, pulled pork and avocado was awesome.

We had excellent burgers. Menu is Danish and excellent fish. Sat at the bar and had a good experience. Bartender is a bit distracted or it would have been five stars.

Thanks to Belga, I think I now prefer their delicious savoury waffles more than anything else. They really set the bar. My friend has heard of this place when she interned in DC so when she visited me she knew we had to venture to Belga. I'm eager to go back if ever I find myself back in DC.

First - if you like beer and/or mussels, this is the place to go. The beer list is presented in chapters, and most are from Belgium. There are a few local beers, but this is the place to treat yourself to one of the excellent brews from Belgium. Second, whether you sit at a table outside, inside, or at the... More

Description
Belga Cafe is a restaurant by Belgium native and award-winning Chef Bart Vandaele. A vibrant atmosphere modeled after Brussel's casual cafes, Belga Cafe is the original Belgian restaurant in Washington, DC. Opened in 2004, the neighborhood locale on Capitol Hill is known for its authentic cuisine, extensive craft beers and Genevers. Serving, lunch, dinner, the ever popular brunch, and "Dinsdag Mossel," Belga Cafe features an open kitchen, European casual dining room along with a sidewalk cafe. It is a small piece of Brussels on the Hill.
