Union Station is a wonderful building and highly recommended for a walk through. It is also a metro station and other trains like AMTRAK and MARC. If you get tired of walking you have the choice of eating and drinking in 20, 30 40 places to eat!!

We went here just to take a look at the station but then discovered the food court downstairs and ended up coming back over the next couple of nights. Sure, not fine dining, but lots of different takeaway type options and very reasonable.

This is not as big as many other stations in the world (think Victoria Terminus in Bombay) but it is very pretty! Lots of good little shops (cheap ones in basement, pricier ones on main floor). Through trains (outstation trains) leave from this station. Overall, good place to go but NOT on your "must do" list!

There are many stores and food places. I thought it was maintained pretty well with as many people are there. It was very crowded and felt like a shopping mall. I wasn't expecting that in a train station. There is even a walgreens or walgreens type store. Much to do while waiting for your train.

Union Station is stunning monument, world class, but full of contrasts too. The exterior and front main hall of Union Station is magnificent. See for yourself from the photos how majestic the expansive gold laced arched ceilings are. The space is breath-taking, like a cathedral. There are fancy shops and cool restaurants, and lots of people from all walks of... More

You have one restaurant on the right side of the station BUT go to the left side and there are 8 quick and less expensive ones similar to a food court. Although the grill had decent food it was a little pricey.

We had just flown in to Washington DC and decided to sign up for a night time trolley tour of the monuments. The pick up location was Union Station. We arrived a little early and walked around the station while we waited for our tour bus. This is a cool place. Much more than a train station. Lots of places... More

Two aspects of different feelings - the main hall is quite wondrous, a magnificent building. The first viewing though as you arrive from New York is just another railway, a long walk from the end carriage through a maze of shops and then you walk through to the Grand Hall - a total change of atmosphere.

It is an Architectural splendor worth a 30mn detour! The ceiling inside is a beauty and it now boasts inside a plethora of restaurant and fine shops. Just lovely all around!
