Absolutely excellent food a little bit of a wait don't go there if you're in a hurry, but it's worth it.

I reviewed this eatery a few years ago. Finally found myself back in Anniston with the opportunity to go again with friends. You worry, Will it still be as good? They have a new shop, more like Macdonald's when you order. That is an improvement 😀😀. They were rocking!! Orders to go, people waiting, phone steady ringing. Was it worth... More

Mata's recently opened a second location across the street from the original location. Don't expect a 5 star atmosphere at Mata's - but if you want good food - especially pizza - this is the place. Voted the best pizza in Alabama last year for good reason. I have never found a place anywhere with pizza that matches Matas.

Hands down, the best pizza & baklava ever. Realized that I had forgotten what great pizza & baklava is really supposed to taste like. Matas has a new building right beside their old location, but the quality of the food is still has wonderful as it has always been. Although, I like the old building better was very happy that... Will be back. Seems pizza would be great. We were rushed trying to catch a flight in ATL so didn't have a lot of time or would have ordered the pizza. As it is a Greek restaurant, figured a gyro would be quick and good - NOT. I've had better gyros from the frozen food section of a grocery store.... More

Every city has a place that is a "Must Eat" while there. Matas is the Pizza Place in Anniston that is a " must eat" kinda place! Matas Greek Pizza has been around for many years. The second generation is proudly continuing the tradition of fine pizza, grinders ( sandwiches ), greek salads & such. Their pizza is made from... More

If you like deep dish pizza, Matas is the place to go. When I got done with the homecoming festivities at Jacksonville State, I placed a to go order so it could be ready when I went to pick up the pizza. They were ready in 30-35 minutes and I took it back to the hotel to eat. They will... More

After over 30 year without Mata's, my wife and I returned while in the area attending homecoming at JSU. Still the best to the point after the game we picked up a Extra Special and requested half cooked after being there the night before. The person at Mata's advised what temp and for how long and we had pizza to... More

My friends and I went for lunch. We arrived around 1ish. The food was excellent. I had a small house salad, small is very big, and the gyro. Both were delicious. My friends had the small kielbasa grinder, which was huge, and the alfredo chicken pizza. All food was wonderful.. A little slow getting it but all in all very... More

We had only lived here a few weeks when we visited Matas. We had heard great things from the few people we had met here and couldn't wait to go try it out. It was the worst pizza we've ever had! Little Ceasers was better (and they aren't great!).

Thank Donna S
