We had an enjoyable experience. The restaurant features craft cocktails and small batch spirits on their drink menu. We had appetizers, entrees and dessert and everything looked great and tasted good as well. My son and I had the cream of asparagus soup. It was very good, but could have used a pinch of salt. Unfortunately, there was none on... More

It is, perhaps, foreshadowing of the experience at Pappo that of the seven desserts listed on their web site, seven feature vanilla ice cream. That pretty much sums things up for me. Nothing was particularly wrong, but nothing really stood out either. My primary takeaway is that the kitchen is scared of seasoning. I had the duck pate and the... More

We ended up in Alameda after a bad experience with a San Francisco city apartment. We spent our anniversary in an out of town motel before finding a lovely family house to rent through Airbnb. We decided to celebrate our anniversary a few days late. This restaurant was recommended in the local guide left at our house. What a find... More

Nice choices, sweet service. AND they didn't gouge just because it was Mothers Day. Fresh fruit and desserts were just right. Pleasant ambience.

Pappo is our go-to spot in Alameda when we want to relax, have a fresh, creative meal and a great glass of wine served by a welcoming staff. Our favorites are the ahi tuna tartar and fried chicken sandwich. For a special treat try the chef's market dinner on Thursday nights!

We had reservations for 6:30pm, however, the event in Alameda ended early and we arrived at the restaurant as they were opening at 5:30. The host greeted us and there was no problem with being seated early. This was our first time at Pappo and we based our visit on the review on KQED's Check Please, Bay Area. It is... More

When our great long time friends asked me where I want to go for my birthday dinner in Alameda, I unequivocally responded Pappo! It's the one adult-like restaurant that has fine food and wine for adults. Ambiance is low noise so you can hear conversation at your table. Menu changes but there are great signature dishes. My fave is the... More

Artistic, fabulous, delicious, elegant, tastefully prepared, well served... OK I'm going to need to take a breath! Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Alameda, and we got some great restaurants.

Everything was done to perfection items on the menu I like to see on a regular basis. The service was equally perfect with servers knowing their product well. Tables a toonce close and crowded but it is a small space.

The flavors are distinct to whatever is prepared- the meat, a sauce, vegetable, condiment or dessert. I've really enjoyed the "Market dinners" on Thursday which use what's in abundance at the farmer's market that week. The regular menu is always available in addition to this price fix sampling. This is my go to restaurant to take friends who are serious... More
