While visiting in town (we really like the Grass Valley area by the way - friendly people (not at all like California - just sayin) quaint and beautiful) and went w/ some friends to Dingus McGee's for a birthday celebration. The service was great and they offered a coffee crusted smoked prime rib for around $20. It was fantastic w/o... More

I live close to Dingus so you would think it would be my go to place. However the quality of the food does not compare to the Club Car. I can't put my finger on exactly the difference other than taste. Maybe it's the seasoning, the quality of meat or whatever, I just enjoy the steaks, hamburgers, pastas more at... More

We haven’t been to Dingus McGee’s in years but our sister-in-law wanted to celebrate her birthday there. I was a little apprehensive since we were a party of seven. Sometimes large parties can be taxing on a restaurant. We were going on a busy Saturday night so I wasn’t expecting much. I needn’t have worried. It seems the management at... More

Hi Rob, Thank you so much for your glowing review. You are absolutely right when it comes to large parties, we do a lot of them. In fact the night of your visit, we had a group of 63 on the covered patio for dinner. We love getting feedback about our guests experiences and appreciate that you took the time... More

My wife and I wanted to have dinner, so we went to Dingus McGees. It was surprisingly not busy, we were seated right away and the service was fast. We ordered appetizers. I had Carolina Reaper Pepper sauce and order the ribeye steak dinner with garlic mashed potatoes and PERFECT! Everything was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were just right.... More

Dingus McGee's was The Headquarter House back in 1990. We had our reception (30 people by personal choice only who were also invited from our wedding in Auburn at St. Joseph's) on the 2nd floor and I remember it well. Bright strutting peacocks on the patio, golfing on the golf course, crisp chill in the air, delicious smells from the... More

This past Christmas Eve my wife and I decided to eat dinner out before attending a 7:00 o’clock service at a local church. Living nearby, we reserved a table at Dingus McGee's. We requested a 5:00 pm seating but were told that the earliest seating was 5:30. No big deal, except that, to our surprise, when we arrived at 5:20,... More

Bob, Yes we did start serving at 3:30 since it was Christmas Eve. (normally 4) however, as you were informed when you called, the earliest available reservation by the time you called was 5:30. Sorry for any confusion. As for the rest of your story, sorry but it was nothing like the way you portrayed it. We all remember very... More

The weather here in Auburn has been very stormy so we decided to go out for a birthday celebration. It was my daughter's 35th birthday and she had never been to this restaurant. We started off the dinner with an appetizer of stuffed portabella mushroom which was filled with artichoke heart, tomato, fresh mozzarella with basil pesto then baked to... More

If you must park far away, drop your guests at the front door and the person in the golf cart will follow you and pick you up. The restaurant is located at the top of a hill so the walk can be a bit challenging for some. Reservations are recommended as the restaurant fills up fast. The Short Ribs, Scampi,... More
