Some people we just met referred us to Katrina's Cafe and we were not disappointed. We wanted to have a good br already on our way home from Auburn, CA and it was definitely worth the stop. The service was great and the food was...delicious. There was three of us and we each ordered something different and we enjoyed the food. One of us is vegan and they do have vegan and gluten free choices. Although the tofu burrito she was hoping for the tofu to be scrambled and boyfriend chunks. Other than that she enjoyed the meal. If ever back on Auburn this will be my breakfast choice.More

The place was a bit crowded and we sat outside. The heater next to us was not working so it was a bit cold. The staff was friendly but we waited 45 mins for our food once we ordered. The tuna melt was really big...and tasty but the clam chowder was just terrible. My husband got the Hot Ham stuffed with ham a cheddar cheese. His only complaint was there was too much Mayo and mustard. The fries were huge but not great. The oil on their fryer needed to be changed. The breakfast foods looked fantastic which is served all day.More

My husband and I were on our way home from a few days in Tahoe. Highway 50 was under construction, so we opted for the I80 route home. As we came down out of the mountains we both were both feeling a bit hungry. We...put off I80 in Auburn looking for a quick place to grab a bit. As we were searching my husband saw a collection of tables with umbrellas out in front of the little building with the name Katrina's Cafe. We love trying these little places, as we know several in our own town that are fantastic. Katrina's Cafe didn't disappoint. We were there around 2pm, so the lunch crowd was gone. We were warmly welcomed, give menus at our socially distant table. First, the menu is huge! They also service breakfast all day! We start with beverages and in my world, if you service breakfast all day you better have good coffee and they did. It was fresh and not, nothing that had been sitting around all afternoon. My husband new what he wanted immediately after reading the daily specials on the wall - A county benedict. they make an eggs benedict, but instead of using hollandaise sauce, they use country gravy. WOW. I would have posted a picture, but by the time I got my camera out, he had already had three big bites. I was not so quick to decide - Did I say the menu was huge? With a little help from the waitress, I finally settled on an Ortega Chile Omelette with avacado, tomato, cheese, and onion topped with Salsa and sour cream. I added bacon because I add bacon to everything. The waitress then asked if I wanted potatoes or fruit or a little of both. I said I would take a little of both. The photo I've added is what arrived - it was a huge omelette, with a full side of potatoes and full side of good fresh fruit - pineapple, watermelon, blueberries, strawberries and blackberry - Yum! Katrina's cafe was the highlight of the day and finished off a lovely weekend away with my husband. We might take I80 to Tahoe from this point forward just to stop at Katrina's Cafe!More

Headed up to the mountains from the Bay Area, targeted Auburn for lunch (half way) and found this gem on Tripadvisor. Just off I80, it is a convent way to refuel and absorb some local color on your road trip. Not fancy and located just...off the highway in a commercial area, the outside dining noteless was comfortable. Both the food and the service have personality plenty. I had the ham and cheese and opted for a cup of clam chowder (changes with the day) rather that fries, an excellent pairing. Just remember to bring cash, as credit cards are not accepted.More

Katrina's tends to be extremely noisy so we decided to go eat outside right under the heater. It provided enough heat to be very comfortable. My girlfriend and I had decided to have an early Christmas breakfast and it was delicious. I had egg white...scramble with potatoes, a generous portion of bacon and fruit and some rye toast. My friend had a Zucchini Omelet. The omelet was so large that my friend took the other half home for her dinner. If you want ambiance, this is not the place to go. If you just want some great cooking, enjoy this very busy and well-liked restaurant. There is ample parking in the lot next to the cafe. They serve breakfast and lunch but close at 2:50 PM. Remember that they are closed Monday and Tuesday.More

When you think about having some breakfast in Auburn, Aweful Annie's always comes to mind, but next time you gotta find Katrina's. Located in a nondescript location off hwy 49 not far from I-80 is this small quaint little restaurant, pumping out some great breakfasts....All the staple breakfast fare done perfectly in nice proportions with some menu items that are just plain excellent and delicious. It does get crowded but worth the wait.More

We had breakfast here on our recent trip to California. Everything was perfect, the ambience, our waitress, and especially the food. We shared an unusual version of eggs Benedict containing artichoke hearts and a delicious hollandaise sauce. The portion was large enough for the two...of us. My only regret is that Katrina's Café is approximately 1,000 miles away from our home in New Mexico.More

We have had several meals at Katrina's and will keep coming back. It is a small and cozy place. The food is filling with large portions. It is a good idea to split entrees. The servers are pleasant.
