I spent my birthday this year on Catalina Island and chose to lunch at Coyote Joe's. We sat on the patio next to the street, which was lovely. My two avocado tacos with rice and beans were light and delicious--and filled me up for the entire day. My only complaint is that the tacos came with no condiments, which made... More

This was hands down some of the worst Mexican food I have ever had across all my travels in the Southwest. The meats were dry, the refried beans were runny and bland (how do you mess up refried beans?). Although the staff was friendly the service was slow and unresponsive (place was practically empty - although that should have been... More

This is one of two places we go to eat in Catalina. The food is good, service is good, and it is clean. It's not big so has a "local" Mexican cafe feel to it. It is close to the Main Street so walking distance if you take a cruise there. It's a regular spot for us.

We were on our first trip to Catalina in off season. We got to the island late and decided to get something to eat. All but a very few places (bars) were closed by 9PM. Walking around we found that those that were open were packed, loud and noisy. Joe's was busy but did not have a live band so... More

The sign for $5.00 house margaritas drew us in for a late afternoon respite from a long day of walking. They were substantial and served with complementary homemade tortilla chips and salsa. Excellent service even though we had such a small order. Overheard locals who brought their guests to dine there--always a good sign!

Nice casual atmosphere, excellent food, and great specials. Wednesday night seems the best deal -- BOGO on entrees! The Happy Hour Margaritas are not weak or watered-down, either.

They were having a super bowl party and had complimentary snacks. They were very generous and really tasty, wings, taquitos, tamales, etc. Nice people and a lot of fun!
