This restaurant was founded 20 or so years ago by the charming Jeannine. She is the sould of this colonial sounding house in the middle of crazy Antananarivo. We tasted 50+ restaurants in our three weeks in Madagascar and this is one of the Top 3. Everything is fresh (vegetables, meat...). You have to go there to try their vanilla... More

Excellent choice if you are into formal dining and folklore experience. Food is excellent. Musical accompanied the whole dinner, anything from the Malagasy classic to rock and pop. We were impressed. We just dropped in but it felt like a private party. Not a place to frequent, if you ask me, but definitely to try. If you are lucky the... More

What a nice setting in this grand mansion. Perfect place for a romantic dinner. They had a nice band playing acoustic versions of the French pop charts. Can't think of any other place I ever heard a Corneille cover. Food was top shelf, another great place for Zebu fillet, and service very attentive. The crowd is quite diverse, don't be... More

Villa Vanille is an average Tana French restaurant . Slow service and a much too noisy music ! The food is good and wine a bit expensive , however they have a demonstration of statutes for sale . These were made by the Malgash artist Solomon Rakotomamana . Unique pieces that generate taste for more of his art !! Actually... More

A lovely restaurant with excellent food, good service, and nice ambiance in an old colonial home. It is in an upscale shopping area with some nice stores including Roberts choclates. Be certain to go there by cab/car and have your taxi/car stay to take you home - not a safe area to walk.

I really loved the setting at this place. My favorite thing was that three guitarists were playing while we were there, and they were great! I don't know if they are always there or if it we were just lucky, but I really enjoyed it. As far as the food, I think we put ourselves a little too much in... More

This was my third visit over a period of as many years. It's a really lovely setting with a superb menu. It's quite pricey by Madagascar standards, but excellent value. As always, the food was really delicious, especially the vanilla souffle (although my husband was underwhelmed by it, but raved about the zebu steak!) This restaurant is ranked as one... More

Lovely old restored house and excellent quality food combining malagasy/french style with use of the incredible ingredients especially spices that Madagascar has to offer. The band was a nice touch.

Obviously a popular restaurant with well-to-do locals. Certainly the most formal dining I experienced during my month in the country. A true blend of Madagascar & France combined in one dining room.

It was highly recommended for us seeing as two of us are Vegetarians and one was a non-veggie. Decor could do with a little more work, the fact that one has authentic paintings from yore does not mean you leave them hanging for ages and end up becoming all dusty and unsightly. The food was good though. They however need... More
