This is definitely an experience when visiting Mozambique. There are a number of tables each corresponding to the different restaurants around the fish marker. You can either bring your seafood that you buy from the market or get the staff to buy. There are numerous option such as fish, shrimp, squid and clams. You can order sides such as salad... More

As soon as my taxi pulled in to the large parking lot, I was (humorously) fought over by two girls/waitresses, who took me to the outdoor table of their restaurant. I spoke enough Portugese to order grilled fish and grilled prawns. While it did take about 50 minutes for the food to arrive, I ordered a drink while I waited... More

Highly overpriced, not pleasant, and the fish is not that good. The whole place is full of flies, and there are lots of annoying guys trying to sell you a whole bunch of stuff that no-one wants.

We had gone passing this fish market many times during daytime and had also heard they served great seafood. When the fish market is open, one can buy the seafood and then come towards the restaurant/cooking stalls section (there are many of them) and let them cook your booty for you. We went there at night. The restaurants were not... More

Buy your fresh prawns, crabs, crayfish, or fish at the vendors stalls and then have it cleaned (for a fee) and prepared (for a fee) in one of the adjoining restaurants where you can order salad or chips and drinks. Great "local" experience, great food, friendly but slow service. So relax and enjoy the experience! (Perhaps the only "downside" is... More

The market concept is one unique experience! You select your seafood and the local market stalls prepares it for you! A selection of three side salads, chips and rice! The seafood is fresh and great treat! The downside was the various spaces offering to make your food!It was kind of confusing as to who to go to and why,the food were not... More

Best prawns I have eaten thus far. We ate at stall number 21/22. We were relieved and excited that our waiter spoke excellent English and Zulu. Meal was prepared well. Good ambience. After eating we walked just over 3.1km to our hotel.

My first visits to the 'new' fish market. Something there for everyone (also helps if someone speaks Portuguese!) Nice setting for an informal, but astoundingly great meal to share with some friends/colleagues/families One downside: 5 mets for usage of public toilets (avoid if possible So, you buy the fresh seafood from the market and stroll about 100 metres to the... The seafood is fresh and well marinated with Mozambican spices. We ate until we could eat no more. The market authorities should however control the vendors who tend to disturb the guests. A must for Maputo!

The rip off mentality of the restaurants there is a pity because it could be a great place. Miramar is just 10 times better and less expensive so if I want seafood by the beach, I go to Miramar.
