There are not many choices in Abilene KS and this may be the best (it was allegedly President Eisenhower's favorite). Let me split my review on the food in two parts: first the sides were great (soup of the day was vegetable and was homemade with real chunks of potato and fresh vegetables...salad was fresh, crisp and their house dressing... A beautiful farmhouse loaded with the history of US Presidents and dignitaries of many statures and types having been served here and yet they can screw it up beyond compare. I have on three occasions been to this place, once as a family group of 6, twice in larger groups. I have found the same problems to exist each time.... More

Drove in from Junction City to check out the antique shops. Decided to get a bite to eat at Mr. K's. I wasn't very hungry, so decided on a BLT with a side of potato salad (REALLY liked my side choice). My sis ordered the chicken fried chicken sandwich and her sweetheart ordered the Hot Beef sandwich. Everyone enjoyed the... More

We stopped in on an impromptu visit, late in the evening. Typically, we would not have expected such a warm welcome, showing up in any venue near closing time. But...Staff greeted us as if they had been waiting for us, they were warm and welcoming. Food was prepared exactly as we ordered and was very good. Hot and tasty! If... More

Nice family place. Food was just OK in general, but good variety on menu including desserts. On the outskirts of town, but still a short drive.

Had a lovely dinner in the "Eisenhower" room last evening. Many historic memorabilia items on display. Daily specials and nice house wine too. Lovely old farm house has been a restaurant and was formerly known as "Lena's" on old Highway 40.

This is a wonderful little gem that serves the best food for reasonable prices. Try their specialty of Steak Strips or a Big E, Its the owners ' secret recipe! Available no where else in the world!! The staff is very attentive and inviting. They have a back room that is perfect for large groups or a party. Can't say... More

Our family visited while traveling through Abilene. This restaurant is located close to Abilene and it is worth the short drive. My daughter had macaroni and cheese that was home made and was good. My wife enjoyed her hamburger and French fries. I opted for the linguini Alfredo with sausage. The only glitch in the meal was that the waitress... More

Thanks so much for your positive review. Glad you were happy. Our salad always comes with the Farmhouse signature italian dressing unless you specify otherwise. We also sell it in local grocery stores. Sorry for any misunderstanding. MR K More

Stopped for lunch after visiting the Eisenhower Museum complex. Nice ride through town to the farm restaurant. I enjoyed driving past the beautiful older homes. The food was good home cooking. Skip the chain restaurants and go here instead. Lunch specials are reasonably priced and good sized portions. Also, don't forget to have some delicious pie. The Eisenhower Room has... More

I had read about Mr. K's Farmhouse restaurant's history weeks passing through Abilene.. The history of this restaurant when it was Lena's is interesting. With the name of the restaurant being Mr, K's Farmhouse, I was expecting the menu items to be freshly made. I discovered after speaking with staff that most of the menu items, at least for the... very sorry you recieved bad information from our front of the house staff. Maybe what they thought you were asking was if we grow everything for the restaurant here on site since we are surrounded by farm fields. That would have been the correct information. We do order in our veggies and meats. But I assure you we cook fresh... More
