We go to Bangkok every year and we like trying out different restaurants on each trip. This time we hit the jackpot with Saawaan! The 13-couse fixed menu was one of the most unforgettable culinary experiences that we’ve ever had. The originality of the combination of Thai ingredients, the presentation and the service were simply amazing. If there happens to be an ingredient you don’t eat, they replace it with something you like. In my case, one of the courses was quail, but when I told them that I didn’t eat quail they replaced it with delicious chicken breast. It’s Thai cuisine at its finest. My only regret is that the waiters’ English was not always comprehensible so we missed out on some of the explanations of what we were about to eat. Nevertheless their attention to detail and satisfying our every need was outstanding.Saawaan most definitely deserves its star in the Michelin guide, and as far as we’re concerned we’re ready to go back for leftovers !

Had an amazing experience at Saawaan. Perfectly designed, truly authentic Thai tasting menu. Takes all the wonderful features and flavors of Thai cooking and street food to the top of its game. Love how unpretentious the team and production is, complete with head chef serving certain courses. Highlights for us were the sea urchin (both the presentation and complex flavors) the crispy rice/pork dish (very similar to Naem Khao tod), crab curry w/ sticky rice and the "soup" dish with a local herb base and wrapped beef, absolutely delicious and flavorful. But truly there wasn't a course we didn't truly enjoy. Great cocktails and solid wines by the glass options if you don't want the pairings or full bottles.

Michelin star restaurant that blends thai food with modern techniques. Nice that each dish has story behind it. Portions are fine dining small, but for small to moderate eaters, the 12 courses should be sufficient. Most dishes are not too spicy, except the fish soup. The beef massaman is the stand out dish Good service with the fine dining touch - 2 servers each time

I had one of my best experience dining at Saawaan. Everything was perfect. Khun Fai was our host and she took care of us during the evening explaining every single dish. We had the tasting menu which is more than 12 dishes, the pace and portion sizes were very good, food presentation and flavors were outstanding. I can’t recommend enough this restaurant. Chef Aom and her team got 1 Michelin star last year, very well deserved! Thank you very much to K. Fai, Chef Aom and Chef Paper for delivering a great culinary experience to us! I will definitely be back.

Really pleased with this experience! Two of our party had never had a tasting menu before, and this was a great first exposure. Although there are only 8 courses on the menu, there were also amuse-bouche and several other palate cleansers. The staff explained the context behind each dish really well, which added a lot to the experience. Everything was delicious, plus they accommodated one vegetarian and one person with several food allergies. It’s also very reasonably priced - a bit over 2300 THB including tax/service charge ($67!) which is much less expensive than other similar Michelin starred restaurants in Bangkok. The only criticism which we had (which we mentioned to the staff while we were there) was that the bottled water was imported from France and very expensive. Considering that this restaurant is all about Thai food, it’s disappointing that they would use foreign water. Obviously really not environmentally conscious either. It’s a very minor flaw (I just hope the management sees this!) and we still really enjoyed our meal.

Really delicious fine dining set menu. The dinner takes 2-2.5 hours as the staff come by to explain every dish and a few items are prepared table side. Excellent service and everything was perfectly prepared. Still dreaming about the smoked coconut ice cream. Definitely more geared towards foreigners and tourists (but still quite spicy!) as they explain many fundamentals of Thai cuisine. Pretty good value for the quality of the food and service.

Very intentional. Reasonably priced, every dish was decorated beautifully but these are why it is not Michelin standard: - the restaurant decor was rather basic and you can almost certainly hear every conversation of tables around you. - Staffs were collegial but we struggled to understand what they were saying though we tried very hard to pay attention. - Prawns were not cooked thoroughly, squid roll was cold in the middle (supposed to be a hot steam dish), chicken was served instead of Guinea Fowel (as stated on menu). More importantly the dishes tasted very similar once ingredients are mixed and eat together (as adviced by our server). Lovely plating technique for sure but taste fell short. It's probably the most economical Michelin tasting menu but was too average to be given a star...seems like the Michelin team has different standard for Bangkok.

My wife and I were celebrating our honeymoon in Thailand when we found and made reservations for Saawaan and were COMPLETELY blown away by this restaurant. The menu was just incredible, possibly the best meal we've ever had. The staff was so unbelievably kind and explained the motivations and structure of each dish. We loved Sawaan so much we were able to squeeze a second visit with an updated menu before heading back home. Thank you so much to Sawaan, and would very happily recommend everyone try Sawaan if they are in Bangkok!

Being a food lover and a traveler I have had the pleasure to visit multiple Michelin star establishments, however this one ranks at the top of my list. My friend and I did the tasting menu matched with the wine pairing and it was perhaps one of the most memorable meals I have ever had. Over the last week here in Bangkok I have indulged myself in the Thai cuisine, and experiencing the modernization on various dishes on Saawaans menu sparked immense joy. Each dish presentation was sculpted as if a piece of art , and Kiko our waiter explained in detail every ingredient as well as the heritage of it. A truly surreal experience and I will definitely be coming back to Thailand, just to visit this beautiful establishment again. I wouldn’t be surprised if soon the accomplish their second star!! Thank you to the whole team for making this night our best in Bangkok so far!

This is a good one. Interesting combination of the Thai food from different places in Thailand. This we also step up with the Tea paring, and it’s five you more interesting testing of the food and tea together. The food is great and amazing, really good presentation of the things from the chef’s and the stuff. Some of the food is only really small things but you still have some things how are littel to big piece. Because it’s not only one things, so I’m the end you will not be hungry. Enjoy the time and don’t forget to book, and if it’s full on the booking side. Then you send a email and they will help you.

Thailand’s cuisine is so complex that at times it can feel daunting. Saawaan’s chef has masterfully created a unique culinary tour using technique as the focus of each dish. In doing so, she helps us to gain further insight into this amazing country. Our meal was unpredictable, exciting and dramatic - one of our most amazing fine dining experiences in recent years. We have no hope of recreating anything we ate, surely the best testament to a chef working at the top of her game. It’s worth seeking this place out if you are in Bangkok and looking for a treat.

Going to a Michelin-star restaurant comes with a level of expectations, especially when it serves as the final dinner of an entire holiday. It wasn't an easy task to find a table, but luckily, a few weeks ahead of our travel, we managed to secure one - happy days. Thai food is one of my favourite cuisines, and particularly in Bangkok, even street food can be delicious. Taking that into consideration and after reading all the positive comments about Sawaan, my partner and I were very much looking forward to this dinner. However, our experience started off on the wrong foot right from the beginning. We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation, and in an unfriendly manner, the host took us to the second floor without further explanation other than 'we're getting your table ready.' To our surprise, the restaurant was only half capacity. Nonetheless, we didn't mind having a drink while waiting. However, no one came to offer us anything, and we were left waiting for 15 minutes without any context whatsoever. Eventually, someone came to pick us up and walked us to our table. It wasn't the best start, actually more weird than anything, but surely the food would make up for it. Before even commencing our dining experience, the host did not make an effort to make us feel welcomed, e.g., they did not provide details about what was about to happen, nor did they offer us many drink options. However, we held onto the hope that the food would be the star of the night. The starters arrived and were delicious, followed by various dishes that looked absolutely stunning. However, some of them somehow lacked a bit of punch in terms of heat and flavour balance. This was the theme throughout our dinner until we reached the desserts, which were absolutely brilliant. Was this a remarkable dining experience? No, and for the reasons explained above. A Michelin star represents more than just a symbol; it signifies a certain level of excellence and standards. The service should have matched the quality of the food, and it's a shame that it fell short on this occasion. It's a shame because our experience would have been significantly different if some of the staff had made the effort to keep us well looked after as diners.

What a great restaurant. The 8 course tasting menu is innovative, creative and delicious. Definitely Michelin Star worthy, each plate was beautifully presented with care and attention to detail and looked like a work of art. The service was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed the night.

The first thing that encountered us was a distinct smell, not bed not good, maybe the aged floor or something, however our noses adjusted in a few minutes. Staff was very kind and engaged. We felt taken care of, they were attentive. Due to a limited number of tables, the atmosphere felt intimite. Food was tasty, but be aware that it is spicy. Which brings me to the only critique I have here, some dishes taste very very similar, due to the spicy nature, the sauces go into the same direction. The chef is a very cool guy (he comes for one dish to your table). His structure of menu based on the basic modi of food preparation made me smile (raw, pickled, boiled, etc...) Kudo's to the pastry chef too, she made some delicious sweet surprises there, great visual presentation. I valued that one staff member waited with us in the end until our transport came around.

What a wonderful evening . We booked several months ago to celebrate our wedding anniversary . We were booked for the early sitting at 5.30, but Bangkok traffic meant that we were far too late : 2 1/2 hrs to do a journey that took 19 minutes on the way back ?!? We rang the restaurant and they offered us the 2 nd sitting at 8.30 . We were warmly greeted on our arrival , given a choice of tables and then the theatre began . We chose the matched wine pairing to accompany the taster menu - sublime . Each course was delivered and explained in an interesting and friendly manner . Each course was a work of art , theatre and taste sensation , so many layers of flavours and textures, from start to finish , a triumph . We even had a special surprise personal anniversary course brought to our table . We made the decision to celebrate our anniversary at Saawaan , what a wonderful venue we chose . Thank you to all the staff for an superb unforgettable experience .
