Was a little hard to find as we weren't staying at the hotel and google maps was misleading but I suppose it's not the restaurant's fault, once we arrived and shown to our table we were giving a complimentary tea which was very nice alon.g with a large bottle of water. We both just had a fruit juice each which was good. We both went for the most expensive set menu which consisted of a starter, soup, main course and a dessert. The starter was very good, the soup was better and the main course was fantastic the lobster was the best part. The atmosphere was amazing we were sat right next to the river. Joe,Bas,May,Add and simon they were very polite and always made sure we had everything we needed (The staff)

I traveled to Bangkok with my family last November, 2019. I had been tied up with my works after the trip and now, finally i can find time to write a short review on this excellent restaurant. We had spent 3 nights at Shangrila Hotel, Bangkok and had booked Salathip restaurant for our first night dinner to celebrate my parent's anniversary. We had enjoyed our meal there, the food were served in hot and all tasted delicious. Thanks for the friendly waiters and waitresses of the restaurant, especially kudos for BAS, AUAN, SORN, BOOM and NP. They had attended to our request in quick turnaround and I remembered well the warm smiles on their face. I and my family will definitely be returning customers for this excellent restaurant. Thank you!

We had last week a wonderful experience at Salathip, with my friend Mats: a place which combines authentic thai cuisine with the ability to assume and enhance the european taste into their dishes In this visit we had a delicious sea bass steamed with herbs, which was melting in our mouths, one of the best I ate in all these years. We followed with scallops ,with the right quantity of spices, offsetting the sweetness of the seafood. Furthermore Joe,Bas and the knowledgeable thai chef, suggested to continue with thai-stile squid fried in garlic and soy sauce, another simple dish, which became very delicate and unique. You must consider that every portion is above average with regards to the size and we enjoyed very much a special table reserved, right on the banks of the river, which made feel to be right at the center of a small island My congratulations also at the restaurant manager who i met a few days later for the first time, receiving an impression of great openness and genuine thai spirit. The strength of Salathip is in his food but also in the attitude of the team who runs this old thai style establishment A must to pay a visit!

We had dinner at Salathip on our first night in Bangkok at the beginning of our honeymoon. We were staying in a hotel a little further out of the city and made a spur of the moment decision when wandering the streets nearby to stop here for dinner, and what a brilliant decision that was. Bas, Simon, Sorn and Nid went above and beyond to make the night a very special one for us. We had a lovely table on the riverside, the food was impeccable (my husband hasn’t stopped talking about it since, 6 nights ago now...!), we were offered mosquito spray which we had actually forgotten and gladly accepted. More rice was on hand whenever we wanted it and there were even two short Thai dance performances. Thank you for a lovely evening, we would definitely recommend to others and will no doubt be back ourselves one day.

My girlfriend and I have visited this restaurant to celebrate my Birthday on 25th December 2019. My girlfriend made a reservation and remarked the purpose of the dinner. When the waiter saw that we are almost done, they brought us a compliment from the restaurant – a Thai pudding with candles and sang "Happy Birthday to you". I was surprised and blessed. Thanks my girlfriend for the trip arrangement and the Salathip’s staff (SORN, MJ, NP, NIT and BAS) for the great services. I highly recommend this restaurant with very democratic prices, cozy atmosphere and good staff. If you are in Thailand and you are looking for a good place where to celebrate and enjoy your food, Salathip would be a good choice.

The first time I took advantage of the quality menu at Salathip restaurant in Bangkok was way back in 1987. I recall high standards in fresh food, preparation, presentation and service. Ever since I had dinner in this place, located on the banks of the Chao Phraya river, I experienced the same high level of Thai cuisine and Thai service mind. Also during my latest trip to Bangkok I passed by Salathip where eating genuine Thai food gave me a genuine Thai feeling

Excellent first visit to this restaurant for its grand reopening. Good standard of food and excellent service from Joe and Simon to meet our needs as a group. They provided tasty vegetarian options at short notice and we left feeling very spoiled and content.

Dining here is a culinary pleasure. It’s not just about food, it’s an entire experience of great ambience blended with Thai friendly culture with the beauty of the Chao Praya River and carefully planned meal of high culinary delights. The staff are there to help you with food choices and we were so lucky to meet the sous executive chef who kindly assisted us in so many ways to make our meal so memorable for our group of 10 people. If you are thinking of dining in an authentic Thai restaurant that gives you the best ambience and entertainment, don’t think further. This is the restaurant for you. Best book in advance as we wanted to dine again here during our trip but could not get a table for the second time. See my pictures on the food we ate.

We had a wonderful evening at this restaurant. The atmosphere is magical. You can sit inside in one of the bungalow pagoda structures or you can sit outside by the river. As you enter there is a someone playing live traditional Thai music. You enter outside by the pool area into what feels like a secret garden. The staff is very attentive. We were treated by MJ, Add, Boom, & Sorn. The manager came around several times to check on us. There is even live traditional Thai performances to entertain you as you eat. The performance is soft yet still entertaining and not at all disruptive to your dinner. It only adds more charm to the overall experience. The food was spectacular. Everyone in my group loved their dishes. The price point was very reasonable. We would definitely return and definitely recommend to others.

Book timely a table outside along the river and take in the view and noise of all that happens before your eyes. Order one of their Thai menus and take in all the flavours of the sumptuous nicely presented food accompanied by some Thai music and dancers. Close your eyes and you know you are in Thailand.

The restaurant is pretty good, highly recommended. A little pricy for thai standards but still a lot cheaper than european restaurants with this quality. Food is awesome and the atmosphere you‘re enjoying while sitting next to the river is amazing. Super relaxing. Also the staff here, especially Bas, Simon, Nid, Boom and Soron made the experience perfect.

My husband and I were celebrating his milestone birthday and had heard good reviews of this Thai restaurant. However, the food was most disappointing, other than the appetiser of crispy prawns. The second appetiser, a beef course, was over-cooked and lacked flavour. The 3 main courses were sub-standard and the duck was over-cooked, while the salmon was dry. The Thai dancers were very amateurish, and should be avoided. The management apologised profusely for our disappointment.

Both food and service were impeccable with excellent entertainment which felt like a personal performance due to the well-thought-out layout of the restaurant. Thank you to Joe, Sorn, Simon, and Joab for making our evening so lovely. I will visit again on return to Bangkok!!

Best thai diner with a view. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive to the details. The food is excellent and the view over the river phenomenal. The Thai pavilion makes it the perfect setting for any kind of diner, a family meal or romantic evening out. Oh yes the girls loved the magic tricks at the diner table. We will be back soon! Thanks bas, Simon, Joe, Jom and the rest of the shangri la bkk team!

We loved our time at salathip! The location is breathless, the food amazing and the service worth a Michelin star, considered also that we are family with a 9 years old daughter, and kids are not always well received in such high end restaurants. We had maybe the best dinner in Bangkok from a long time. The food was fantastic, truly recommended the passion fruit sorbet. Special mention to all the staff and to Bunny, made out stay special! hope to meet her again next time!
